Velodrome racing. The track is like a NASCAR circuit with steeply banked corners. The bikes have no brakes and cannot freewheel. The racers can achieve speeds of about 40 mph for.short distances. It is a really fun rise but can be very dangerous if it all goes wrong.
I’ve seen it before but don’t see the point of it. Things the the tour de france I get but this? Seems just way too dangerous.
The comment section over on DM is funny. One said to install a speed bump. I say have them race in those granny type tricycles. That would be interesting.
That dude was flying!
I’m confused ..
They are on bicycles going as fast as they possibly can.
Not pedaling isn’t an option, the bicycles are direct drive and the only way to stop is to take your feet off the pedals and coast?
But the pedals are still moving so you can’t actually put your feet down unless you jump off the bike.
“Velodrome racing. “
Yup. I saw it firsthand in the Philippines. Cycling at top speed inches within each other at the TOP of the lane ala NASCAR. Doesn’t surprise me one bit.
Out of minds = out of the raceway.
