In hot pursuit?
EV range drops dramatically with sustained speed.
This version will also be carrying extra weight and less than ideal aero.
Pretty certain my estimate is not too far off.

Are these the same one’s that were recalled for potential battery fires?

Idiots would imply the consequences were not foreseen by them, when in fact everything that is happening is happening on purpose.

Stop calling them idiots. They are TRAITORS.

Local city council’s are forbidding hot pursuit so that takes care of that problem.

The hard way is the best way to learn.

The learning curves on EVs of all sorts is gonna be hilarious.

“I’m willing to bet that the range is actually probably only 100 miles if you mash the throttle to attempt that 4.0 sec 0-60 time”

If I ‘mash the throttle” on my ICE car I get less than 100 miles on a tank.

All the testing I have seen stops the test when the temperature gets down to twenty degrees.

Too bad northern winters don’t stop at that temperature.

;-)

“This is a Ford truck. Read the article.”

Are you claiming that it has electrically activated door latches with no emergency release?

“The batteries are drained quickly in low temps and in far Northern locations”

Tesla batteries are heated to nominal temperatures.

I can foresee police chasing someone and running out of juice quickly.

They try and sell EV's based on the range they get but they only tell you the "in a perfect world" barely-cracked light throttle dyno run mileage. It can be very misleading.

This vehicle does have a purpose, although it’s not law enforcement, or even transportation (unless really stuck).

It’s capable of using its power as backup for home power, either to deal with blackouts, or for batteries to go along with solar. The ‘truck’ (more like a battery on 4 wheels) costs less than half of what a Tesla Powerwall costs, for the same amount of energy storage - so it makes sense to buy this, for that one reason.

Otherwise, stick with the real thing.

Could Elwood take that over an open bridge?

In my past work experience as a PW director, I was responsible for all vehicle purchases and fleet maintenance. Without a doubt, police officers are the most abusive employee in the city with respect to the equipment they are supplied with. If they don’t like something they will do everything they can to render it useless so they can get something new.

My staff used to have a friendly pool on the how many days it would take before the PD wrecked their new cars. The quickest one I saw was 5 days.

In 2005 when we were replacing their fleet with the new HEMI Chargers, we were still 7 months out from taking delivery. The PD was still driving Crown Vics. I came into work and my mechanic called and said they blew up a transmission. So, we ordered a rebuilt unit to keep our cost down. Within 6 months we installed 6 rebuilt transmissions because the PD was trying to make a point that they wanted their new cars. NOW!

At the same time, we also purchased 2 plain jane Impalas for detective cars. I made the Chief was aware that these were not police package cruisers, just run of the mill vehicles. He said that is what he wanted. Less than a month later, 2 cruisers got into a pursuit with a suspect that ended up in a city park and one of the detectives in a new Impala had joined in on the fun. The suspect vehicle had jumped a curb and was driving the through the park, but the cruiser had stopped. Next thing they know is the Impala went flying past them headfirst into the curb, which of course launched the Impala into the air and when it hit, totally destroyed the front end.

I put together a vehicle checklist for every piece of equipment in the City fleet with the intention that the driver do a routine check prior to driving and upon returning it to cut down on maintenance and repair costs. The Cops refused to do it. The basically told me to F’ off and no -one was going to tell them how to do their jobs.
