Joe and Susannah Altman are serious poker players. Sometimes, when they play in tournaments, they’ll place what’s called a “Last Longer” bet with friends who see which of them can outlast the others. The pandemic kept the Altmans, both 58, away from the in-person tables for over a year — Susannah has lupus, and at the time, they were caring for a friend with cancer — but they came out of lockdown a little over a year ago, after getting vaccinated, and since then have had some close calls. The Las Vegas couple dined with friends who subsequently tested positive. Joe spent a day with their 25-year-old son, only to have that son be diagnosed with covid 48 hours later. Just last month, Susannah went to lunch with four friends, two of whom tested positive days later.
“Joe and I feel like we’re still in the Last Longer with covid,” Susannah said in a recent phone interview.
She said she figures it’s only a matter of time before she gets knocked out. That’s the way the game goes.
“At some point,” she says, “there’s only one person left.”
There are no winners in a pandemic. That said, if you’ve made it to the summer of 2022 without yet testing positive for the coronavirus, you might feel entitled to some bragging rights. Who’s still in the game at this point? Not Anthony S. Fauci. Not President Biden, who tested positive this week. Not Denzel Washington, Camila Cabello or Lionel Messi. Not your friend who’s even more cautious than you but who finally caught it last week. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimated that nearly 60 percent of Americans had contracted the virus at some point

Never been tested myself but the wife works at a nursing home and gets tested twice a week. Late last year she tested positive with a followup test the next day to confirm. We were both definitely sick the following days so without being tested myself, I know I had it and now I’m a worm free PureBlood.
It’s possible to have had Covid and not know it.
I had to be tested in June of 2020 before a medical procedure; the result was negative. My wife has had to be tested a couple of times before medical stuff, same thing. We haven’t had the shots, don’t wear masks, go where we want, and just generally ignore all the Covid nonsense as we have from the start.
Oh yeah, and neither of us has gotten sick.
My healthy brother got the jab (1 dose J&J) August of last year. Diagnosed in May with intermediate, aggressive prostate cancer. PET scan showed no spread, but the process of diagnosis/testing to treatment is SO slow, I’m afraid that by the time he starts treatment (likely Sept), that it will have spread. Related to the jab? I don’t know, but I am very suspicious - the cancers being diagnosed after the jab, bot new & recurring, tend to show up as aggressive from the get-go and his is.
So very sorry about your dad ... my sympathies. ~Q
How long I must wait for the adverse effects from jabs to show up?
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
If you haven’t had an adverse effect in the “early” window(s), you’ve still got the 3-5 year window to go. Hope you get through it ok.
Thank you. I will not skip my daily gym routine. That is my best insurance to stay healthy. It is 90 degrees outside right now and very humid. I just mowed my back yard with a push mower without self-propelled feature. OK, so it was a battery powered mower which is lighter than gas powered type. But still not bad for a 82 year old geyser.
Same here
From what I know, most prostate cancers spread very slowly.
They say your age is the percentage chance you have prostate cancer. For example if you are 75 years old, there is 75% chance you have prostate cancer. Good news is old age will kill you before the cancer. However there are a few types of prostate cancers which metastasize faster. So always get PSA test done every year after age 50.
If she has Lupus, then she is probably on HCQ. ( Not mentioned in the article.) That’s a good reason why she doesn’t get Covid.
My prayers for your dad to not suffer from the cancer. You might remember my wife was diagnosed stage-4 cancer 4.5 years ago. She had 4 jabs of Moderna starting in February 2021. Her cancer is stable and not growing (brain, both lungs, bone, lymph nodes). I guess everyone is different.
His cancer is not the slow “watch & wait” variety. He’s also ‘young’ & this one will kill him before he dies of old age if he does nothing.
Yes, I understood that. Cancer is so insidious. My wife was diagnosed with stage-4 cancer 4.5 years ago, I have seen first hand what cancer patients go through. She had over 100 treatments so far of chemo, Keytruda, radiation. Side effects of all treatments are horrible. I have watched patients just give up chemo and die soon thereafter. But her oncologist has kept her alive for 4.5 years and she is a fighter and will not let the side effects stop fighting.
My neat trick for never testing positive is never getting tested.
I got sick but I never tested positive.
It’ll be fine. Just avoid the fish. 🤣
thank you...
there’s more...
2) my healthy brother was forced to get the shots to maintain employment...
he’s suffering from constant joint pain and brain fog since getting the shots and regrets getting them...
3) i was recruited to complete a few hot rod builds due to the owner/builder suffering a couple of strokes after getting the shots...
all 3 people mentioned have law enforcement backgrounds...
Congratulations.
You can’t prove that any of your good luck is the result of getting the jabs.
Maybe the fact that you are active and get around and are in crowds of people all the time has given you natural immunity.
Maybe getting the jab just gave you the confidence to get out of the house and into the world where you could build up natural immunity.
Placebo effect.
Whatever. You don’t know anything about the jabs. Nobody does. It’s all statistics and statistics lie.
my next door neighbor, middle-aged, healthy, athletic, collapsed hours after his 2nd jab and was rushed to the ER and admitted to the hospital with acute myocarditis; same thing happened to a business client who lives a few miles away ...
anecdotal reports go both ways ...
thank you for your prayers...
