While it’ll be a cold day in a hot place before Biden takes a stand against Chinese depredations in America, Ron DeSantis is pushing back.
On Friday, Janet Levy wrote about the fact that the Chinese have purchased land in North Dakota, immediately next to two highly sensitive military bases. The Biden administration is unconcerned, but ordinary Americans think it’s a problem when a geopolitical foe starts buying up land around military bases. Now, Governor Ron DeSantis is talking about ways to push back against the Chinese gobbling up American farmland—that is, our food source.
Were we living in normal times, the people in Washington, both in the Biden administration and in Congress, would be getting very worried about the fact that China is buying up massive tracts of American farmland. After all, our population continues to grow, supply chains are breaking down, Ukraine and Russia are ceasing to have food to export, the Dutch government is seizing farmer’s land, Sri Lanka and Panama are having food shortages...and D.C. sits complacently as China buys up land that ought to be feeding Americans.
Ron DeSantis, however, is not complacent. In an appearance on Laura Ingraham’s show, DeSantis said that the Chinese purchases are “a huge problem.” As a general matter, DeSantis says, “I don’t think they should be able to do it.” Indeed, he’s generally disturbed about China’s increasing influence in America. In 2019, Florida shut down the last of its Confucius Institutes, which are organizations that represent the Chinese Communist Party on American campuses.

“Currently, there’s a lot of chatter about Trump versus DeSantis in 2024. I see both men having virtues and issues”
I for one, think they complement each other.
For that reason, I think they may both be in prison for political crimes before Mayday, 2024.
Why do I picture the chinese loading ship loads of American growen food being shipped to china only with no benefit to America..........can’t wait to see the “volunteer” chinese workers, anything is possible in America for the right price.
grown
The way around that is the same as what they did around 1790 here in NYS...when aliens couldn’t buy land in the colonies. The aliens simply became citizens and bought what they want.
We not only need to worry about foreign evil actors. That brutal murdering Bill Gates is the largest individual farmland owner in America. We all know what nefarious plans he has for that food producing 270,000 acres.

It is a great idea to take action on this. China is using US dollars to buy up Africa and South America, too.
You had better have MAGA going, too. The Chinese will stop taking dollars they can’t use and we’ll have to make our own junk.
Should also ban people moving to Florida. Florida is being cut and cleared daily. Nothing will be left of a once beautiful state.
Prison? For what?
Political prisoners.
The Dems will put them in prison before they can become president.
Autorities?
How about:
Ownership of real property in a US state by non-US citizens must be approved and periodically reviewed by the Legislature thereof. This includes corporations conducting business in foreign countries.
While China isn’t looking, let’s buy up all their land.
desantis is currently running for reelection for florida governor this year (2022)...
he’ll be sworn in january 2023...
he’s not starting a presidential campaign in 2023...
I am curious as to what the “issues” are that the author believes DeSantis has.
People should look at aerial photos of the Everglades 30 years ago and now.
I wouldn’t let them buy anything in our Republic. Period. Including stocks/bonds etc. of American companies. These Chinese are the most arrogant culture on planet earth. They believe because they have been around since the fall of Babel that their culture is superior to everyone else’s.
Some of us remember many years ago when Japan was buying up real estate all over the US of A. Didn’t work out well for them.
