Some people still believe in self-sufficiency and that, regardless the difficulties, if they keep trying and stick to principle, they will not only get ahead, but they will keep their sense of personal worth and pride.

“threatening to write them up.”

In other words, he’s a wussy and his employees run over him because they can.

I was a McD’s morning grill crew kid. We Kicked Ass! We were all young and full of energy beautiful young people (’cept for maybe that circus feller). Walked 2 miles to get there at 5am many times. Carson City, Nevada. Man...if I could go back to 18 and do that again...Like THAT! You wanna see me crack two eggs in each hand at once with no yoke breaks? Should put that on the personal hobbies part of my resume.

My son walked into the high-end restaurant in the county and asked “I hear you are looking for servers”. They said “Can you work tonight?”.

He had never worked in a restaurant and has an Accounting degree. He is making major $$

The company we use is Waste Management. But maybe not for much longer. Their rates have gone up 50% in the last year. Most likely due to rising diesel costs. Still, it’s a ridiculous increase. Plus we almost never fill up our container. Sometimes, its so empty it almost get blown away by the wind.

Manangers can only do so much.

You can’t give people inner motivtion or drive.

That said, in this particular job (fast food worker), he may have more luck motivating the younger workers vs the older workers. These jobs were starter jobs unless you wanted to progress into management roles. The young ones can aspire to working better jobs in their future, lots of their career/work life ahead of them, so how the do now, may be more important to them, than to an older worker in the same job position.

No work ethic, and a government the encourages it. This crap about making MacDonald's and jobs like those it offers pay a "Living Wage" are partially at the root of it.

These are entry level jobs, meant to give workers entering the workforce experience so they can advance to better paying more demanding jobs.

They need to listen to this five minute video from PragerU by this young woman:

I Learned More at McDonald's Than at College
Can working at McDonald's better prepare a young adult for life than attending college? For Haverford undergraduate Olivia Legaspi, college taught her that her feelings are more important than anything; but working at McDonald's she learned that serving others comes first. Which of those lessons is more important? Olivia Legaspi explains.

The people who should be working these jobs are getting enough money from somewhere to buy pot, vapes, iPhones, and expensive coffee. At least anyone who has a job and simply does not show up falls into that characterization. When they don't have enough to buy those things, or a bed to sleep in at night, or even simply food to eat, they are going to find out just exactly how useless and un-fun a job really is.

They are bidding down wages (and up housing costs) for low-skill workers.

Send them home!

I have a friend in that runs a hotel in the Hilton chain on Virginia beach.

2 days ago he brought in international workers because he can’t find employees locally.....when I asked where they were from he said El Salvador.

Another friend on the same text commented “doesn’t anyone in this country want to work anymore” to which my hotel manager friend said “no one”.

McDonald’s and other fast food restaurants are “points of entry” for those just waking up to the real world where they have to get a job. It serves as a place where worthless employees are culled from the good ones. As you would expect, there are more worthless ones than good ones. My daughter was actually a manager at a McDonald’s while she went through nursing school. Here favorite saying to the employees was: “OK folks, it’s just burgers and fries. How hard could it be?”

“I dunno. Now a single guy drives the garbage truck and the picking up/emptying of containers is done by a robotic arm.”

Years ago they went on strike in Seattle for better wages/health care or something. I don’t recall exactly, but even years ago they were making $120,000 or more!

I blame the lack of a work ethic.

People just don’t care.

Perhaps this guy is a bad manager. I don’t know. I do know that entry level people not wanting to work because of Democrat welfare state mentality is very very real.
