It’s a cycle.
Jews disobey God.
God warns the Jews, they double down.
God sends another country to kick their ass.
After awhile God remembers His promises to Abraham and David, and rescues the Jews.
He then stomps the country He used to punish the Jews.
The Jews let it go to their head that they can get away with *anything* and start disobeying again.
If they’d obey God more they wouldn’t keep getting into trouble.
“If they’d obey God more they wouldn’t keep getting into trouble.”
That’s a lesson for humanity in general, not just Jews.
What you describe is universal. Call it the cycle of sin if you will. Most recovering alcoholics, with slight modifications, would probably describe their personal struggle in similar terms. The Greeks had a term for it. They called it hubris.

I have a small quibble with this one.
But overall, a good summation.
