It’s nice to have the most expensive telescope ever created but old dated smudgy blobs of light that may not even exist anymore gets old pretty quick for me 🤪

Probably just a half evaporated black hole by now. If you believe in that sort of thing. (evaporation)

People complain about the one-time cost of the Webb (around 10 billion) but are OK with the fact that the taxpayers are forced to pay billions EVERY YEAR on illegal aliens.

Am willing to bet there is no idea where the BANG initially went BANG in the universe. All distances are distances only and age is a guess (imho). No method exists to prove one is right or wrong ….. only theory

I think measurements are relative, so we can tell what is moving, in which direction, and how they are relative to items closer (in front of) other items.
There are also lengths of waves, Doppler issues, and gravitational metrics that can be used to get pretty decent assessments of distance.
So….there is a bit more science involved than wild assed guesses.

Could one tell one where one is or us (if preferred) location wise in relation to the initial beginning ? If not and point is unknown all else in recognition of any other point remains an unknown (imho)

Good point. There could be beings just as far away, with a telescope just as powerful, who are looking at us as the furthest away they can see. The Milky Way is supposed to be ~13.6 billion years old. Light can travel a long way in 13 billion years.

People complain about the one-time cost of the Webb (around 10 billion) but are OK with the fact that the taxpayers are forced to pay billions EVERY YEAR on illegal aliens. Some people don't get it or don't want to get it.
We've spend trillions on foreign country, and hundreds of billion over the past 40 years due to the fall out caused by millions of illegals.
But some complain about 10 billion?
Btw, there are certain groups of people who'd love to see his mission become a failure and they're motivated by various reasons.
