When I first moved to California in 1981, I lived in Huntington Beach but worked up-county, so it was up and down Beach Blvd for several weeks. Later moved to Newport so it was 55 time.

FRiends! If you live in the hellhole known at KKKalifornia; please move to a free and safer state as soon as you can. Nothing is worth living in fear 24/7 in a state that won’t even let you conceal carry for your own protection. Where criminals get out of jail in hours for felonies then given probation instead of 20-life for their crimes.

That guy would definitely set my spider-sense tingling. As a friend of mine in NYC says, it’s important to be able to tell the harmless crazies from the dangerous crazies.

All things being equal, I would have stayed in California - moved to the East Coast in 1997. Even then, California was getting ridiculous tax-wise, the traffic was a hassle every day and every hour, and the public schools were not exactly top-notch. But you cannot beat the climate and the diversity of surroundings - beach, mountains, desert, urban... If money were no object sure I’d be living in Beverly Hills.

I wish I could get my brother to get out of Fullerton...

Used to live in Fullerton too. Left in 1997. But even then parts of Fullerton were bad, bordering on Buena Park. I can't imagine it's gotten any better.

It took a few articles to find, but he was stabbed at 5:51pm, so it was probably daylight. The reason I looked was, when I moved into Tallahassee, I read the police log each day to see where and when stabbings, shootings, and robberies took place. They were almost all within the major roads ringing the city. I’d drive by and many of the places looked wide, open and well lit. But the bad things generally happened after dark, and mostly after 11pm and they tended to cluster in the early morning hours; 2am was a popular time.

Rule one, never stop at a place that isn’t well lit. Try not to stop inside the city limits because that’s where the homeless and restless teens congregate. Be situationally aware. A lot of people standing around is a bad sign. Go somewhere else.

I moved about twenty miles away from Tallahassee and the crime rate here is practically zero. There are no homeless because there are no homeless “shelters.” That takes about an eighty percent whack out of crime. There are crimes, but they don’t tend to be the violent type. I’ve had to throw out a number of renters who got into drugs, for example. I send a deputy and the deputy hands them a paper and a few deputies stand around while the vagrants vacate.

Funny (sort of) story. I evicted a family. The husband was one of the largest and most well-muscled men I have ever seen. My helper, who is a mammoth man, bumped into the male renter and exclaimed, “My God! How much do you weigh?” The guy answered “375.” My helper said, “Jesus!” The first deputy was already on the radio and soon there were three other deputies who stood around while the rest of the stuff was moved out. The male renter was EXTREMELY polite and solicitous. His wife, however, screamed at me, calling me names and making threats. The male looked like he was in excruciating pain, clasping his hands he looked at me and deputies mouthing, “I’m so sorry. Ignore her, please.” All of this behind her back. Finally, they were gone, and one deputy said to the others, “I thought for sure this was going to get ugly.” Another answered, “No, I’ve done the man before and he’s the most cooperative arrest I’ve ever made. Couldn’t fit the cuffs or straps so he showed me how to put two straps together.” He pulled out a couple of zip ties to demonstrate the technique.

max americana has confused Westchester with Westminster AND apparently hasnā€™t visited Westchester in 30 years - from Realtor.com: In June 2022, the median listing home price in Westchester was $1.6M, trending up 15.8% year-over-year. The median listing home price per square foot was $922. The median home sold price was $1.9M.

Loyola Marymount University is in Westchester...Houses around LMU are very nice...

Westchester is a part of City of Los Angeles...

Westminster is the ā€œghettoā€ beside LAX.

Are you sure?

According to Wiki, Westminster usually votes Republican in presidential elections.

In 2020, nearly 54% voted for Trump vs. nearly 45% for Biden. The rest voted for some third party.

Westminster isn't even in L.A. County. It's in Orange County.

Are you thinking of Westchester?

WRONG.

The city next to LAX is WESTCHESTER. WestMINSTER is in Orange County and I should know since I worked in Westminster for many years. The Vietnamese GANG problem is big there but that was years ago.

My momā€™s hometown is in that area. In Gadsden County. Beautiful, peaceful area. I need to get back there sometime.

Yep, WestCHESTER is next to Playa del Rey, an exclusive area. This is very near Howard Hughes' original facilities with runway. This is where Hughes crashed his aircraft and lived to talk about it.

Westchester has an L.A. zip code but is a city unto itself, really.

It’s true. Westchester has been gentrifying. Ten years ago, during the last housing crash, I read articles saying that Westchester was a hidden gem. It was among the lowest priced neighborhoods on the West Side, but it was being “discovered” by people priced out of Santa Monica, Venice, Marina del Rey, and Culver City.

*WE can now add Bobby Eastā€™s name to that long growing list of Expendable Americans.*

Kinda reminds me of Nicole Simpson. The racism issue you know.

Yes, pretty sure itā€™s Westminster in OC.. I drive up & down Beach Blvd all the time, thereā€™s a bunch of homeless that hang out under the 22 fwy bridge with all their crap, shopping carts. Itā€™s disgusting that itā€™s allowed to happen.

The gas station address is 6322 Westminster Blvd.

I have been to Westminster...It is not nice as Huntington Beach, which is south of Westminster...

Westminster has a big Asian population, mostly Vietnamese...
