Abortion should be banned from conception forward.

Republican politicians used Roe vs. Wade as an excuse to sell out for decades.

That excuse is gone.

Every innocent little preborn baby, from conception forward, deserves to be protected.

Roe is dead.

It is time for babies to live.

Any Republican who goes against that is unfit to hold office.

“But Youngkin acknowledged that 20-weeks might be needed for a compromise.”

...Youngkin is doing exactly what I figured. Crossing the f’n aisle. Extending an olive branch and the all the other pussy sayings.

'Republicans should not be negotiating'?

Negotiating with bad policy is like adding sewage to your drinking water.

I think we will see Europe style restrictions at some point with a 12-15 week max for abortions at the federal level with some medical exceptions.

This will not make either side happy but will be the compromise ‘most’ people, other than the aborted, can live with.

On the good side it would stop late term abortions. On the bad side it would not sit well with those believing/knowing a life started at conception.

If this compromise were established I think the 12 week (first trimester) limit would serve everyone best; including the science about when the nervous system develops. It would give the woman time to know, time to decide, and time to abort as early as she could.

I know this won’t sit well with a lot of good people here and I apologize for that. I’m simply being a realist about how (I think) this will eventually shake out.

AFAIC, the USSC has now corrected a grievous ruling 50 years prior and affirmed that abortion is not a Constitutionally protected federal right but a question that should be left to the individual states.

What Virginia does in the aftermath is of no consequence to me.

The Congressman has had their chance. It’s up the states now. And the reps within the state are beholden to their constituents—who have much more impact than they do in Congress.

Congress had, literally, 50 years to legislate this issue. All they did was use it as a fundraiser on both sides.

If this critter has an opinion, he should call his state rep (or house member). Otherwise, his right to bitch is forfeit.

Here’s the starting point for the way negotiations should go. Everyone involved in the murder of a baby, including the mother gets the death penalty. I’d be willing to give a little on that as part of the negotiations, perhaps reduce the penalty to life in prison for some indirectly involved in the murder. That’s how you negotiate.

Negotiating Republicans.

Is there ever another form of them?

Abortions on boats was tried off the coast of Ireland and some other countries several years ago. It did not go well. Boats depend on a lot of tangential services accessed from land. I think that was the problem.

There is nothing close to a majority to ban abortions, not in any state.
