How did "The Terminal List" really end? (spoiler alert)

I just watched "The Terminal List", which was excellent. I was puzzled by the very ending, however. I couldn't decide whether Reece was going to the African place on the map shown or was he just going to sail until he ran out of food, water, or the tumor killed him? Any insights?

I’m just finishing the last book, watching the series now so hopefully it continues through all of them.

Wife and I just finished watching it last night. I thought it was very good.
I know Chris Pratt is a big star already, but after watching it, I had the feeling he is going to be bigger in Hollywood than he already is.
I was uncomfortable watching it, as it delves deeply into a few things that resonate deeply in a negative way with me.
- The portrayal of all combat veterans as psychos is one of them. While having PTSD can make a combat veteran psychotic, it isn't a sure thing, though if one watches Hollywood productions, one wouldn't know that. Granted, the guy in the series did eight combat tours and had a brain tumor (which would be enough to unhinge anyone I would think) but it was simply the entry into that territory I dislike. I know and have interacted on a personal level with many vets, especially Vietnam Veterans who take a dim view of this "combat vets are all PTSD psychos" portrayal, and after what we did to our Vietnam Veterans in popular entertainment, it is something I am sensitive to.
- Likewise, the concept of gaslighting is disturbing to me in any context. I actually watched the original movie "Gaslighting" from 1949 (IIRC) and it is prevalent in our world today. I hate it. And you see it in the series to a degree.
- I despise the portrayal of the FBI as good guys in any way. After what we have seen in real life, I am of the opinion it should be razed to the ground, and if it is needed, built back up from scratch. As it stands now, the FBI is an arm of the Left and the Deep State. I hear over and over again "Oh, there are good people there" and I am certain there are. But if they are, they are keeping their heads down and contributing to evil and corruption with their silence.
- Another thing I despise is the portrayal of anyone in the media as "Good guys" working for the good of the people in general or in this case, service members in particular. They have long since, decades ago, cast off that mantle, and 90% of the media and its employees out there are advocating for Leftism, whose goal it is to destroy this country. They not only willingly repudiate that role, but actively work in concert with anti-American Leftists, not only in cooperation, but with collaboration and coordination to destroy this country. To see them portrayed as an entity that wants the best for the American people by providing them with accurate information is galling.
Again-my point is not that the series was bad because they included these elements (It was NOT "bad", I found it very well done and highly entertaining and will recommend it to anyone) it is that I was uncomfortable viewing these things as entertainment in popular culture.
I can watch it, and manage to keep it in context because I know it is entertainment (which is what I did while watching this series) but I have come to the conclusion there are large swaths of our society to whom a fictional movie becomes a documentary. The fact that this is not "real" eludes them.

It was already mentioned in an earlier episode that a possible cure was available south of the border but would sideline his quest for justice for some weeks/months. Therefore, he declined. to exact justice on all parties involved in his family’s demise.

Missed that... but my experience with these series types is that continuance will find a way. :0)

Just watched the first episode of Terminal List. How I hate movies done in the dark. I saw absolutely nothing that happened but from what I heard, it has a lot of intrigue. So far so good. Does the rest of the series show anything in the light?

I hear ya. I don’t care for the low light footage either. Let us see!
Yes; it gets better.

Haven’t watched it yet but plan to.
I’ve been watching “The Old Man” with Jeff Bridges and John Lithgow.
Pretty good.

I’m staring book 4. Any book that strikes out against politicians to solve problems goes to the top. The books differ widely from the new series. Slow at times as they introducing the character. He’s only scratched one from the list so far.

I noticed that before each kill, his daughter arrives on the scene to remind everyone why he is doing what he is doing.
That young girl put in one of the best acting performances of them all, especially at the end. She is amazing. How do they find kids like her?

It looked like he was on his way to sail to Mozambique at the end. I thought I saw Mozambique channel on a map. That’s a long sail from Peru.

The book has a scene at the end that was omitted from the TV show. There were a few important characters missing as well.
It would have added to the “fun” at the end.
But, it was pretty good.

I had high hopes for it when I saw the Winkler axes on the wall in Reese’s man-cave. Because they really and truly were designed collaboratively by Dan Winkler and some SEALS. That’s a pretty obscure piece of SPECWAR kit to be getting that specific about, so I was hoping for a high degree of realism in the show.
Then two dudes carrying guns walked into the MRI room where Reese was getting whatever was left of his brain scanned, apparently paying no nevermind to all the magnets in the room that are as strong as the ones on those car-lifting junkyard cranes. Must’ve been using those 100% ceramic Glock 7s.
That was when I switched to reruns of ‘Cheers.’
To: Paal Gulli
So you don’t think when they shot the MRI Tech they also shut off the machine?
You should finish the series. He does use the axes.

The very elements you noted did bother me a bit as well, and for the same reasons. Like you, I was able to set that aside and just enjoy the show. Which I did, very much. Almost surprised it was even on Prime.

Glad it wasn’t just me. I am getting older and crabbier about these things, and have to work a little harder to enjoy them.
I like Chris Pratt as an actor. Great facial expressions...:)
