Emmett Till protesters stormed a senior living facility in search of the woman who has been accused of setting a lynch mob on him after a 1955 arrest warrant was unearthed in a Mississippi courthouse.

Carolyn Bryant Donham, now in her 80s, of Raleigh, North Carolina, reportedly accused Till of whistling at her in a grocery store in Money, Mississippi, in 1955.

A week later, the 14-year-old Till was abducted, tortured, fatally shot and dumped into the Tallahatchie River, where his body was found swollen and mutilated three days later. His open casket shocked the nation.

Donham's husband, Roy Bryant, and half-brother, JW Milam, were arrested for his lynching, but later acquitted. The pair eventually admitted guilt, but couldn't be prosecuted due to double-jeopardy laws.

Last week, the unserved arrest warrant for Donham was found in the basement of a Mississippi courthouse, causing Till's family and activists to once again call for justice.

Carolyn Bryant didn’t tell her husband Till had made a pass at her. She and her sister in law decided that would lead to trouble and initially kept silent.

Apparently some black acquaintance came to the house and told Bryant what Till had done. I guess he figured that Mrs. Bryant had already done so, and hoped to defuse the situation, maybe to get Till off with a beating instead of having angry Bryant brothers coming after everyone.

That's interesting. I never heard that. If that is true, this lady was actually trying to protect Till, even though he harassed her.

In 2017, a book quoted Donham, now in her 80s, as saying she lied when she claimed that Till grabbed her, whistled and made sexual advances while she was working in a store.

After the allegations of Donham's lies, she told the FBI that she had never recanted her accusations while relatives also denied the accusations.

At the time, officials said historian Timothy B. Tyson, the author of 2017's 'The Blood of Emmett Till,' was unable to produce any recordings or transcripts in which Donham allegedly admitted to lying about her encounter with the teen.

so from what I can gleam from this is that a black person has admitted that Till acted obnoxiously...he did say he had been with white women before...the only thing that seems to be uncertain is whether till grabbed her. The woman said he did. I do not see where the cousin says he didn’t...doesn’t say he did...and he might not have seen it.

So the modern day lynching appears to be based on the theory that some dude claims the old lady recanted...and she denies she ever did..and he can’t prove it.

What happened to Till shouldn’t have happened. The lady was trying to protect him by not telling the husband.

While reading this, I’m wondering since the crime happened in Mississippi, and the 1955 arrest warrant is said to have been found in Mississippi, are these “activists” Mississippi folks who traveled to Raleigh, NC to hunt for the elderly woman, or were they local Raleigh folks?

Southern democrats were pretty strict, back then.

But this is not really about him. It’s about her. They chose not to pursue her, probably because of lack of evidence that she broke any laws.

But at the end of the day, I think this is just useful idiots doing their “betters” bidding in an election year. It may just be BLM being re-activated for the coming election.
