Park officials said bison are wild and unpredictable, as recent incidents show.

For the second time in three days, a visitor to Yellowstone National Park has been gored by a bison.

Park officials say a 71-year-old woman from West Chester, Pennsylvania, and her daughter inadvertently approached the bison Wednesday as they were returning to their vehicle at a Yellowstone Lake trailhead.

The woman’s injuries were not life-threatening. She was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Cody, Wyoming.

The incident remains under investigation.

On Monday, a 34-year-old Colorado man got too close to a bison and was thrown as he grabbed a child. An Ohio woman was gored in May.

Park officials said bison are wild and unpredictable, and visitors should stay more than 25 yards away.

We have a family friend who pitched for the Buffalo Bisons after he completed his college baseball career.

The restaurant at Bryce Canyon NP does a great job with bison meat. IIRC, I had a meal of tenderloin tips that melted in my mouth.

They’re called “wild” for a very good reason.

Here come all those pesky chain link fences to surround the buffalo and keep stupid people from getting too close.

Sometimes society can’t have nice things when the Dunce Quotient reaches certain levels.

Oh, they had them in zoos, but the last ‘wild’ one was killed by a poacher in the early part of the 20th century is some preserve................

Oh please. Cartoons are not to blame. Parents, educators etc are to blame. And a general lack of intelligence and critical thinking.

We have the most loving 95 pound Rotten Shepherd, more Rott than Shepherd. She's gentle around the grandkids, but I always keep an eye on her. I'm the only one that plays rough with her, and she's gotten me at least a dozen times that left blood on me (not much, a few drops at most). Funny, but she's smart enough to know when we've gone too far.

I know what she's capable of, situational awareness is big with me.

Bison like to rub up against stuff to scratch and remove parasites and excess fur. Imagine hundreds of these wild 1200 pound beasts doing that all at the same time..............

Those poor bison should not need to deal with truckloads of silly people, or flimsy fences put into their areas. The only real solution would be to close off those park areas to the public.

That would be a shame.
For one thing, I think the parks need the revenue from visitors to help maintain the park and help pay for any employees.
