Park officials said bison are wild and unpredictable, as recent incidents show.

For the second time in three days, a visitor to Yellowstone National Park has been gored by a bison.

Park officials say a 71-year-old woman from West Chester, Pennsylvania, and her daughter inadvertently approached the bison Wednesday as they were returning to their vehicle at a Yellowstone Lake trailhead.

The woman’s injuries were not life-threatening. She was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Cody, Wyoming.

The incident remains under investigation.

On Monday, a 34-year-old Colorado man got too close to a bison and was thrown as he grabbed a child. An Ohio woman was gored in May.

Park officials said bison are wild and unpredictable, and visitors should stay more than 25 yards away.

Alligators will eat people. Buffalo / bison are herbivores. They are big, fast, and have horns, but they only attack when they feel threatened.

There have been about 22 deaths from hot water at Yellowstone since 1870 something, 8 from murders by humans, about 9 from grisly bears, one from a black bear, and 2 from buffalos.

““Bison” is the term used by envirowackos to make them appear superior to MAGA rubes who use the term “Buffalo”.”

Bison is the correct term. Early settlers didn’t know better.

We had a neighbor get gored by his ‘pet bison’- the fella initially survived it, but infection set in and later killed him-

I’ve never done that either, but we had the common sense to listen to the park rangers and heed the warnings when we visited.

That said, the NPS may want to up the distance on the bison warning.

Couldn't follow that guidance during our trip to Yellowstone 5 years ago. On our way out of the NP, traffic slowed to a crawl, as a bison was walking in the other lane.

LOL, we stayed quiet, though I rolled down my window for a clearer video as he meandered on by. I'd say he was 4-6 feet from my car. Of course, it was huge.

My then 6YO grandson only moments before, called out from the back, "I'm bored!!!" Shortly after the bison moved past us, I heard him say, "Opa, I'm not bored anymore." lol

A family of three got too close and when the bison charged mom fled then dad left the kid and got behind mom.

The other man rushed in to save the kid.

The bison chili that’s served at the Old Faithful Inn Dining Room is out of this world. Best chili I’ve ever had.

The comparison was for lack of common sense and approaching animals with realizing the danger. If bison eat people, we really are in for some trouble.

LOL. We had that experience with bison. And bears. We never got out our vehicle on those occasions so it wasn’t an issue.

Just be prepared to drive slowly and carefully.

And be prepared to wait if necessary.

The other thing is that the two times I visited with family, both quite a while ago, there seemed to be mounted park rangers most places people congregated.

I’m betting the park could use more mounted park rangers.

Yes, I've encountered a few in the Netherlands.Very European, just drinking, eating and watching people walk by. Almost like a cafe scene.

I concur.

Disney has morphed animals as just people with four legs and this is the result.

Now they’re grooming kids for pedoe in the same manner.
