great family history, thanks.
Prayers your son is OK and safe travels.
I watched “Pershing’s last Latrjot” earlier. About the amazing life of Frank Buckles, who died as the last WW1 veteran, age 110 in 2011.
He was a kid and served in WW1 as an ambulance driver in France and Britain.
After the war, he got a good job which required traveling all over the world. He was in the Philippines when the Japs attacked, Americans pulled out, thinking they would quit bombing. Instead they killed the Philippines and took POWS.
Frank hadn’t evacuated as he stayed behind to help the Philippinos, and he was captured and imprisoned in Japan. He was there for years, then Japanese decided to execute all of the prisoners to save money. At that very same time, a planned rescue operation by the army saved all of them.
What is really sad is how the DC politicians broken their promises for a national monument honoring WW1, and for Mr. Buckles to lie in State in the Tundra. Made my eyes teary.
Mr. Buckles and daughter are a main part of the documentary.
Thank you President Trump 🇺🇸
Thanks Norsky!
I’ll be right there, in my heart.
we were fortunate to have 95° yesterday, but now we’re back to 100+ for 2 weeks.
Sad. 6 dead so far, 24 wounded. 🙏🙏🙏
Happy Independence Day Lilfarmer! Its always good to hear from you!
How horrible and heartbreaking.
Prayers up, for all.
I had an English neighbor in California. I always had fun giving her a hard time on the 4th. She took it in good stride.
It was a nice lunch. Good food, good company.
I went to World Market afterward and found a perfect housewarming gift for another friend closing on their new house tomorrow. It comes with a beautiful swimming pool. She is one of my BEST FRIENDS! HA!
I also found a new bathroom, some napkins, and I may have to go back for a rug.
Allergies have kicked in, however. So, I’ve taken two benadryl and have now settled in to watch 1776 as I wait for the meds to work.
Beautiful and graceful as well as gracious and kind. If a Dem FLOTUS had the immigrant story of Melania, she would have been on magazine covers every month.
They had the Culper Spy Ring which was much more accurate than the internet, I’m sure.
The Culper Ring was a network of spies active during the American Revolutionary War, organized by Major Benjamin Tallmadge and General George Washington in 1778 during the British occupation of New York City. The name “Culper” was suggested by George Washington and taken from Culpeper County, Virginia.
Formation: 1778
Headquarters: Setauket and New York City
Key people: Abraham Woodhull, Robert Townsend, Caleb Brewster, Austin Roe, Anna Strong, Agent 355
The series TURN was all about it.
Happy Independence Day to you too!
Nope, nothing special planned.
Might throw some nice ribs on the barbie later,
How about you?
I just asked my hubby if he has seen Pershing’s Last Patriot and he said he remembered a movie about the rescue but hadn’t seen this documentary.
He’s going to look for it on Tubi as it is offered for free there.
Thanks.
