PHOENIX — Two men were killed after allegedly forcing their way into a home near 24th Street and McDowell Road Saturday morning.
Just before 8 a.m., police were called to the scene at a home in Phoenix.
Officials say when officers arrived, 20-year-old Jairo Perez and 24-year-old Jose Gutierrez were found with gunshot wounds in front of a home.
Both men were taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. They later confirmed both of the men had died.
Police say the three occupants of the home were detained peacefully as suspects.
During interviews, investigators say the three suspects "provided consistent stories of self-defense stating the two men forced their way into the home."
The three suspects have since been released, according to police, and that charges will be submitted for review.
If you have to use your firearm for self-defense, be patient with the process. The police are going to treat you as a suspect until the facts clearly support your actions as a self-defense action.
Good to know they have a law on their side.
Hopefully the weapons are not "lost" from the evidence locker.
Sometimes the law does work as it is supposed to. I am always pleased when it does.
I think there’s more to this story...
AZ isn’t like Portland or CA.
You break in, expect to be dead if residents are armed.
Yea its worse.
or maybe “the suspected good guys with guns able to defend themselves”?
Maybe the high probability that their systems are so full of drugs the students could be injured?
Most likely shot inside, then ran out and collapsed.
A fairly common occurrence.
