Little evidence testosterone treatment increases the risk of cardiovascular events, most in-depth analysis suggests
Medical Xpress / The Lancet Healthy Longevity ^ | June 8, 2022 | Jemma Hudson et al

Testosterone replacement therapy appears safe in the short-to-medium term to treat a condition caused by deficiency of the male sex hormone, according to the most comprehensive analysis of the treatment to date.

The findings suggest that men given testosterone to treat hypogonadism are at no greater risk of heart attack, stroke and other cardiovascular events in the short-to-medium term than men who do not receive testosterone treatment.

Testosterone replacement therapy is the standard treatment for hypogonadism, which can cause sexual dysfunction, weakening of bones and muscles, and reduced quality of life. Risk factors for the condition include aging (as testosterone levels decline with age), obesity (BMI of 30 kg/m2 or above), and diabetes.

Despite being widely used, the cardiovascular safety of testosterone treatment has until now remained unclear due to inconsistent findings. This is because most previous clinical studies have relied on aggregate data rather than individual participant data, and have not published details of individual adverse events.

A meta-analysis showed there were 120/1,601 (7.5%) cardiovascular events in the testosterone group and 110/1,519 (7.2%) in the placebo group across 13 trials that provided this information. Patient age, smoking or diabetes status did not affect cardiovascular risk. Similarly, there was no significant difference in mortality rate between the testosterone group (6/1,621 deaths, 0.4%) and the placebo group (12/1,537 deaths, 0.8%) across the 14 trials that provided individual patient data on mortality, but only limited data were available.

The researchers also found that testosterone significantly reduced serum total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein (HDL), and triglycerides compared with placebo. However, there were no significant differences in serum low-density lipoprotein (LDL), blood pressure, glycemic parameters, diabetes incidence, and prostate adverse outcomes between the testosterone and placebo groups.

The meta-analysis that integrated individual participant data with aggregate data showed similar results.

On bi-weekly testosterone shots for over 10 years.

One problem.

Testosterone FEEDS prostate cancer. Does it cause it? They don’t know.

After 12 years I developed Gleason 7 prostate cancer, caught early.

Docs always warn you before giving the shots.

Now I have to live without the shots. No energy is tough.

Everything breaks eventually. But proper servicing in healthy life habits help the warranty for most.

Sometimes, however, a body was just a lemon with limited miles...

You can have your energy back.

Look up prior posted threads on GlyNAC and Urolithin A.

GlyNAC alone even made 80 year olds walk faster than 30 year olds, at their standard walking gait.

I used testosterone spray half strength for several months then I got prostate cancer. I think I probably had cancer before the testosterone spray, but I had surgery. It has been 5 years and the cancer is still undetectable. I do miss the way I felt using the testosterone spray, but even after my prostate was removed they will not prescribe testosterone.

It may not give you a heart attack but it shrinks your testicles and makes you infertile.

Not if you’re low in it and just bringing it up to normal.

Nope. That's exactly what happens.

Good catch on that. Testosterone has a bad feedback mechanism, while an estrogen blocker is apparently what is needed to help the body make sperm.

I heard something different: Bringing testosterone levels up to those of early adulthood increases the risk of cancers.

Our cells, when aging, cannot handle the same levels of hormones that they could.

This is the Nestle site:

Celltrient Cellular Protect
https://www.nestlenutritionstore.com/celltrienttm-cellular-protect-capsules.html

Nestle says to take two servings a day, which has 600 mg of glycine and 600 mg of NAC per serving, equaling 1,200 mg of glycine and 1,200 mg of NAC.

The alternative, which is quite a bit cheaper, is to get glycine powder (cheapest) or capsules and NAC capsules. NAC is not available on Amazon, but is available many other supplement sites, including Vitamin Shoppe, GNC, Swanson and Double Wood. Just have the glycine at the same time as the NAC, as the two are blended in the Nestle capsules.
