Anyone else tired of this crap?

Here in Virginia they've torn down all the historic "white men" statues!😡

New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell announced Friday that, in recognition of the city’s black and brown artists, the city has dedicated $7.2 million in bond funding to public art, and has already purchased over 60 pieces of work created by local black artists.

I noticed the raised fist is being used as a "Juneteenth" symbol.

It's called the black power fist and originated with the Black Panther Party (Marxist-Leninist black power political organization founded by college students Bobby Seale and Huey P. Newton in October 1966 in Oakland, California.)

Maybe the negroes will bring back the conk. We used to watch them put the goop on Saturday afternoons around 1960 when visiting my aunt who lived in the projects because she was married to a non worker.

From a constituent:

So let me get this straight, you just spent $7.2 million on art when NOPD has to have 12 hour shifts bc there aren’t enough police in our city. As of this week, 135 homicides & 236 armed robberies. The streets are filled with potholes that damage people’s cars.

The sewage problem is the worst ever in history. Uptown New Orleans floods when it rains. Don’t get me wrong I love art, however your priority should not be art. 💁🏻‍♀️ it’s a slap in the face to the men and women who protect you and our city. Just saying

So they’re embarrassing themselves by turning what could be a marginally respectable recognition into a full-blown cartoon. Good job, you idiots. And you demand “respect”.

BTW, I have a black power pick exactly like that in my purse for when I wear wigs.

How are all the black women who get their hair treated, colored, and wear wigs, and such so they can look more like white women, relate to that?

E. Pluribus Unum was kind enough to create the link to the mayor’s Twitter page, (which I couldn’t do) so you can see it’s really from her!🙂

“On June 19, 1865, Republican troops lead by a Republican president freed the last of the slaves”

Your thought is correct. Blacks were officially freed on that day (or one near it) by the bloodiest war America has fought in terms of percent of the population that was lost, almost all of them white men.

Juneteenth ought to be a memorial to those lost in that war, and to blacks it should be a day of thinks for those that fought for their freedom.

I’m not just being nasty to blacks. After their freedom was won, many whites continued to treat blacks terribly, and some still do, and I wish that weren’t so.

What a huge waste of public money and public space.

Lincoln's Historic Emancipation Proclamation freed all slaves on Jan 1, 1863; that's the day they should be celebrating, instead of this idiotic -- yes, I know about the Union Army in TX etc -- date.

Hair pick? For what? Lice? Seems really demeaning to me.

Hey New Orleans - take down this offensive statue!
