The internet went into overdrive on Saturday after Joe Biden was filmed falling off his bike in front of a crowd of reporters.
The moment inspired a flurry of memes and jokes at the 79-year-old president's expense. Biden was not injured in the tumble, aside than perhaps his pride.
Donald Trump Jr., called the flub 'a perfect metaphor for the current state of our country'.
'Down goes Biden,' another Twitter user shared.
Former Buzzfeed journalist Benny Johnson ,posted a tweet that showed the president riding his bike - with a pair of pink training wheels photoshopped on.
'Biden right back out on his bike after his collapse this morning.' Johnson wrote.
Biden, 79, took the tumble during a morning ride in Rehoboth Beach at around 9:30am, while attempting to stop and say hello to a crowd that had converged on the Gordon's Pond State Park bike trail.
Pulling up to dismount the bike, the president suddenly fell over sideways, footage shows, causing a mad scramble of Secret Service and press to help him up.
Footage of the flub has since sent social media into a frenzy - the internet characteristically quick to react with a relentless onslaught of memes.
One Twitter user labeled Biden 'The Economy' as he crashed to the ground - an apparent jab at the financial woes experienced by the country under Biden's leadership.
Another user shared an image of Biden superimposed on a child's bike - as they suggested he might be more comfortable with training wheels.
One tweet compared Biden's tumble to the elderly person falling in the old commercial for Life-Alert which has the famous line 'Help, I've fallen and I can't get up.

Joe Biden exemplified the heroism expected from the Comm. in Chief. As he was approaching a crowd of unaware supporters, Joe immediately recognized that they were surrounded by asphalt. Joe sprang into action selflessly throwing his body on that asphalt saving the lives of many ;-)
No one uses toe cages anymore. Cleats and clip in pedals are what has been standard. Cages are like so 20th century.

You simply slip you toes into toe cages. Competitors, at least on road bikes use shoes that interlock onto a matching pedal. You have to twist you’re foot to unlock. With either devise, people who have never used them before, will likely fall over a couple of times when they come to a stop.
