Woke San Francisco DA Chesa Boudin is RECALLED by voters in notoriously liberal city as murders soar 11% and locals furious with rising crime say his progressive policies are to blame

San Francisco on Tuesday voted to recall its progressive district attorney amid rising anger at the city's crime-ridden state.

Chesa Boudin, 41, had been widely expected to lose his job and on Tuesday, 60.5 percent of the electorate, or 70,730 people, voted to recall him. Thirty nine point five percent thought he should carry on.

Only 24 percent of the city's 495,000 voters turned out to vote.

Recall proponents cheered the news at a victory party, with California state leaders of the hotel and retailers associations lauding Boudin's removal as a sign that visitors, shoppers and employees will be prioritized again in a city that relies heavily on tourism.

'This election does not mean that San Francisco has drifted to the far right on our approach to criminal justice,' said Mary Jung, a chair of the recall campaign, in a statement.

'In fact, San Francisco has been a national beacon for progressive criminal justice reform for decades and will continue to do so with new leadership.'

Boudin, a former public defender elected in January 2020, was made the target of a multi-million-dollar recall campaign earlier this year by residents who say the city has become an increasingly unsafe place to live due to his soft-on-crime policies.

The districts of Haight-Ashbury, Castro and the Mission backed Boudin, but the rest of the city was against him.

But Boudin remained defiant in a speech to supporters, saying he was outspent by 'right-wing billionaires.'

He said voters were understandably frustrated by the pandemic and a city government that has failed to deliver on safety, housing and equity.

A little surprised that the Mission supported him, but population-wise, parts of the district have become more like the Haight and the Castro over the years.

Under San Francisco’s recall laws, Boudin has no opponent, with Mayor London Breed picking a replacement. This contrasts with recalls of statewide officials, where voters select a replacement candidate.

Would be a shame if all three had an arkacide...while on vacation.

The party does not condone failure.

At least London Breed and other CA people didn’t want Boudin and endorsed someone less insane. He was a “dissident” candidate endorsed by Bernie Sanders Revolution.

Good, Mary Jung. Remain stupid and try to figure out why crime continues to increase.
