San Francisco on Tuesday voted to recall its progressive district attorney amid rising anger at the city's crime-ridden state.
Chesa Boudin, 41, had been widely expected to lose his job and on Tuesday, 60.5 percent of the electorate, or 70,730 people, voted to recall him. Thirty nine point five percent thought he should carry on.
Only 24 percent of the city's 495,000 voters turned out to vote.
Recall proponents cheered the news at a victory party, with California state leaders of the hotel and retailers associations lauding Boudin's removal as a sign that visitors, shoppers and employees will be prioritized again in a city that relies heavily on tourism.
'This election does not mean that San Francisco has drifted to the far right on our approach to criminal justice,' said Mary Jung, a chair of the recall campaign, in a statement.
'In fact, San Francisco has been a national beacon for progressive criminal justice reform for decades and will continue to do so with new leadership.'
Boudin, a former public defender elected in January 2020, was made the target of a multi-million-dollar recall campaign earlier this year by residents who say the city has become an increasingly unsafe place to live due to his soft-on-crime policies.
The districts of Haight-Ashbury, Castro and the Mission backed Boudin, but the rest of the city was against him.
But Boudin remained defiant in a speech to supporters, saying he was outspent by 'right-wing billionaires.'
He said voters were understandably frustrated by the pandemic and a city government that has failed to deliver on safety, housing and equity.

Sounds like they’ll still have to walk between Shiite going to work.
LOL. He deserved to go but the voters will elect someone at least as bad and love it for a while. Then the cycle will repeat.
There was an article here recently about a SF mom pushing a stroller down the street...and was run over by a car thief in a stolen car. It was on video...and looked like it was on purpose. The mom and kid were eventually ok. DA Boudin gave the thief something like 5-6 months suspended sentence (?).
The mom was on the Tucker show last night. She’s a Democrat and voted for Chesa Boudin.
I’ll withhold comment...
Boudin should be arrested, charged, tried, convicted, and sentenced for malfeasance, misfeasance, nonfeasance, and being an accessory to crimes after the fact.

I believe these are the highly gentrified (meaning taken over by rich, tech, yuppies who take the Google Bus to work 20 miles away), so they likely never walk more than a block from their apartments (Uber, or whatever for the ‘long’ trips). The people who actually have to deal with living in this crap outvoted them, thankfully.
I dunno brother...that’s a real sewer over there......BE CAREFUL
Should I mask up?
As long there is nothing there like the andromeda strain that should work
FWIW I think it was Gascon in LA she voted for. But he is probably even worse than Boudin
“Wondering why Deep State allowed this...”
Because they couldn’t stop it. The weenie deep state is not composed of 10-foot-tall Rambos with Einstein IQs.
Yes...you are correct. I have trouble remembering what I had for supper last night...much less what I saw on TV. Thanks!
You can’t be liberal, unless, you have pristine environment to live in.
Yes. the supportive areas were the White Liberal areas.
“Yes. the supportive areas were the White Liberal areas.”
Incredible! For all my adult life, the most Leftist areas of the country were those populated by blacks. Guess that’s not the case anymore...
Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn are the Emeritus leaders of the Obama faction of the Left.. cant really see that happening. Boudin is a loyal soldier, he isnt going anywhere
