In addition, if they leave it there on the side of the road for a week — it will still be there and neither rats nor flies will have touched it. Well, some might have, but they died.

No, those are the “meats”. The filler is powdered milk or soy proteins, anti coagulants to aid in extruding the paste into wiener casings, a butt load of nitrates and salt, all the good stuff! I worked at a meat packing plant for a couple of months in my high school days. Attempting to outrun all the stray dogs on the way home was a thing to see.

Thanks for that, I took a few to listen to it again. All the radio stations seem to think that Chapin only ever recorded “Taxi” and “Cat’s in the Cradle”.
