I couldn't identify a "funk" song to save my life. All I know about "funk" is that sometimes people slip into one and it can be hard to get out. That and "Grand Funk Railroad."

Funk pretty much started with James Brown.

Grand Funk Railroad, isn’t funk, it’s just a play on the Grand Trunk Western Railroad, which went through their hometown of Flint, Michigan. [I have a friend who is really into trains]

I could go with Bootsy Collins or the Isley Brothers as semifinalists, but James Brown without question. The hardest working man in show business!

Dayton, Ohio has a proud history when it comes to funk music, and the Gem City is considered to be the birthplace of funk music.

James Brown- King Records, Brewster Ave. Cincinnnati. Isley’s are from here too & Bootsy BABY! is a local icon. What’s odd is the Funk Hall Of Fame in Dayton.

I wonder if they have inducted Dolly Parton?

Ya never heard "Lowrider" from War?
Must be a youngin. d;^)

Old funk is good schtuff. Grew up skateboarding with it regularly in the mix from the house jukebox.

Still diggin on it sometimes. d:^)
