Men all over the world are suffering from deteriorating semen quality—often referred to as an outright fertility crisis.
Now, however, there may be good news for some of the men who are experiencing problems.
In a new clinical study, researchers show that men with obesity improve their semen quality if they lose weight—and maintain the weight loss.
"It was surprising to us that such a big improvement can be shown in the semen quality in connection with a weight loss. And as 18 percent of Danes have obesity, this new knowledge may actually make a difference," says Professor Signe Torekov.
A total of 56 men with obesity participated, aged 18-65 years and with a body mass index between 32 and 43.
Signe Torekov explains that it has long been known that obesity is associated with reduced semen quality. Previous studies have also suggested a link between weight loss and increased semen quality, but these studies have had so few participants or such modest weight loss that it has been difficult to draw conclusions from them, she explains.
"But now we are ready to do just that. This is the first long-term randomized study, where we have shown that semen quality in men with obesity improve with a sustained weight loss," says Signe Torekovz
"The men lost an average of 16.5 kg, which increased the sperm concentration by 50 percent and the sperm count by 40 percent eight weeks since the weight loss. During the 52 weeks, the trial lasted following the weight loss, the men maintained the improved semen quality. But only the men who maintained the weight loss: after a year, these men had twice as many sperm cells as before their weight loss. The men who regained weight, lost the improvements in semen quality," she explains.

Wives who cook get pregnant.
Another study shows that for every 10 ballots you mail in for Brandon, you lose 25 I.Q. points.
Fat acts/is regsrded as a female hormone in the body.
Its not a surprise the average man has less % body fat than women, with good reason, we dont need more tissue acting like a female hormone. And its not a surprise fat men who lose weight increase sperm production.
That's a bad study. It's confusing cause and effect. The only way you mail even one ballot for Branden is because you've already lost substantial I.Q. points.
Danes “have obesity.” Not “are obese?” I hate the newspeak.
You have cancer. You have diabetes. You don’t HAVE obesity.
There’s motivation.
Yet another reason not to be a fat ass.
Reason for improved semen quality is optimal temperature inside testis once the weight of previously obese person is reduced.
In some cases this is not enough, there is a medical condition called “Varicoceles” which basically means too many blood vessels close to the testis, keeping the temperature too high and reducing the semen quality.
This condition can be treated with a surgery, removing some of the blood vessels.
I hope this comment will be helpful to someone trying to have a child.
Customarily I produce only a single sperm. But it does weigh in at one and a half ounces.
All my gurl frends call ne bullet for short, but not for long.
Varicocele also offers mild pain in the groin and sometimes the testes too. I freaked out and thought I had testicular caner before I was told it was varicocele.i never wound up getting surgery, and I haven’t really had any issues with it I. The past couple of years. Sorry if it’s TMI.
Can confirm.. I’ve been pregnant a lot.
Or, like a few couples I know:
Wives that don’t cook, wear the pants, and get pregnant when they choose to.
