Watched the last half hour of SNL last night when I got home from work, I was intrigued by the name of the musical act, "Japanese Tea Garden", and it was really annoying, when the female lead singer would bang a gong every 10 seconds, was it a tribute to T Rex?
Well I digressed, at the closing everybody on stage was wearing a mask.
What were they trying to convey? They are such hypocrites.
The other actors on Good Times really hated JW for the catchphrase. They viewed the show as a serious play on the black situation. ‘Dyno-mite!’ caused a couple of cast members to quit.
Looking back, I have to agree with them. That was the time to have the conversation.
SNL hasn’t been funny in 30 years. I’ll occasionally come across one of their skits on youtube and I’m struck with the impression that young people today sure are a humorless lot if they think the current SNL is funny.
Ever see his stand up act? Was good. A couple of his bits;
“I auditioned for “The Waltons. It was for the part of Boy Boy.”
“I was pulled over for speeding in Alabama. Cop said you’re going to jail son. I asked don’t I even get a warning. So he fired 3 shots over my head.”
Haven’t watched SNL since the 70s, can’t fathom why they are even still on the air, since they suck rotten tomatoes. 😋

The Gong Show.
It actually punctuates how out of touch and behind the times the the show has become.
“Wearing them outside is the worst!
No, wearing a mask while driving a car, with the windows up , with no one else in the car is the worst. And I’ve seen a number of those here in Vegas.”
I’ve seen the alone in car thing and it’s pretty silly, but worst I’ve seen is on the beach nobody around for 100 yards and 20mph wind blowing onshore from Gulf of Mexico.
If someone wants to wear a mask despite the fact they are ineffective what do you care? Get over it, person.
(Maskless here.)
I think conservatives who watch SNL are hypocrites.
It’s filmed in NYC
I do think that the elevation of him and his young antics & catchphrases hurt "Good Times".
If you want some good insight into what it's like as a normal blue-collar guy working as TV writer and producer in Hollywood, check out this 4-part interview with Michael Moye, who wrote for "Good Times" (and other Norman Lear properties), then was the co-creator of "Married with Children".
(Yes, you read that right - he went from being in the orbit of Norman Lear to helming the most un-PC TV show of all-time.)
Moye is a good guy, and may very well be "one of us"....
I saw some dude riding a bicycle wearing a mask and I starting laughing at how ridiculous people are!
As I stated I looked at the guide and was intrigued by the musical act, they were actually pretty good musicians, except for the singer banging a gong every 10 seconds, and as I stated, was it a tribute or criticism of T Rex?
I try to watch it, but I keep forgetting what night it is on.
Because it’s empty virtual signaling and I bet you wear a mask even though you state you don’t
I thought John Amos just wanted more money. The show said no and wrote him out of the script.
“I saw some dude riding a bicycle wearing a mask and I starting laughing at how ridiculous people are!”
Someone wants to wear a mask ok, but I can’t help but laugh when I see people doing stupid, thoughtless, pointless things.
Back during the start to middle of COVID, I would see someone put on a mask to pump gas. No one else at that particular pump island, 100 degree Texas day, bright sunshine, 15mph wind, everything perfect to kill and disburse virus, not to mention gasoline fumes. Come to think of it gasoline fumes on a cloth mask probably more harmful in the long run.
What a lame reply..
So what that it's empty virtue signaling? What do you care?
