The runner collapsed before 9am. Weather was not a factor at that time.
Then why in the past with the same conditions or worse did we not see these results? Also, the runner collapsed before 9am when the conditions were not that “bad”

RUBBISH! Last time I was a neo-con was years ago when I approved of GW Bush going into Afghanistan to waste the Taliban and Osama Bin Laden. Iraq — I was thinking what? Because I knew Saddam did not harbor terrorist groups. Though he might have allowed a few individual Muslim terrorists to hide out there for a year or three. Same as Iran used to do.
In retrospect, going into Afghanistan and Iraq was idiotic as we stayed in both for so many years doing nation building. As our soldiers got maimed and killed, and we squandered 5 trillion or so on primitive Muslim wackos and ingrates. It is useless trying to reform Muslim nations to democratic ideals. Let them do their stupid Muslim shit, and just sell us and Europe your oil and natural gas.

Just say it rained and change the date. That would inconvenience runners from other countries and states, but that’s not necessarily a minus. It wouldn’t be terrible for a local to win.
If you’re not used to the heat, it can be hard on you. Humidity makes sweating less efficient.
Marathoners need to drink a lot of fluid in the best of temperatures. Yesterday they needed extra.
Dehydration causes all sorts of symptoms including heart issues which apparently killed the runner.
There are also a lot of people who enter these things without being in great shape. At least that’s my observation from being in the occasional hospital tent (with a friend).

It was also blistering hot Saturday.
But I don’t ever recall hearing about that many casualties at a marathon. My d-i-l runs them and if there was that kind of history I know I’d hear about it.
We spent time, in NYC, for a few years, during this marathon and I don’t ever recall so many collapsing, like this.
Saturday, 10 am when this happened, was 67°.
Race started at 7 am.
Working according to plan :(
