Netflix's layoffs earlier this week, which saw 150 employees go, had targeted many 'social justice warriors' who were working on projects about anti-racism and marginalized communities in an apparent purge of 'wokeness' from the company. The struggling streaming service has pulled the plug on several projects that were aimed at discussing race to a young audience, Variety reported, and axed the diverse employees working on and promoting them.

I bet you not as good as the Hitchcock version.
If they really want to shake things up and bring in a bunch of new subscribers they should promote and run “2000 Mules”. That would set off a bomb.
Does that include a certain politically powerful couple?
Looks like they have also figured out most folks don’t want “social justice” in their entertainment….. despite the clear lessons in recent times that display of you go woke , then you go broke. Centering your programming around unpopular niche markets won’t keep the lights on long.
I mostly watch old TV series that I didn’t see the first time. Mostly things I can download and watch on the train.
I can’t remember the last movie I watched on Netflix.
Hell, I forget that I even have it sometimes, so if I dropped it, I wouldn’t miss it. No reason to have it and Hulu at the same time, so maybe I’ll switch it up for a while.
Netflix is not laying off people of color or the albphabet crew....or whatever the narrative is. They are laying off people who are creating shows that no one will watch.
These people have their heart-felt beliefs which I acknowledge. I also support their absolute right to have these beliefs. This is America after-all. I do not, however: agree with them which is my right.
If they feel strongly that their shows must be seen and heard and that they have a message that must be told, now is their opportunity to create their own streaming service.... or catch on with a streaming service who wants their shows.
This is not a complicated matter. This is the adult world. Now is their chance to act like adults.
Ha!! Wow. Good thought. I bet Netflix would make major coin if they did that. The ‘thought police’ would come down on them hard though. I doubt they have the balls.
Managers, just stand up and look over your cubicle farm. See anyone with unnatural hair color?...
What do they not understand?
A little prediction from a little old Grampa: "As our economy continues to falter, more big woke companies will get rid of their expensive, worthless and hostile anger provoking employees, their Woke mobs!
National Amusements (CBS, CW, MTV, Paramount, Viacom, etc.)
Disney (ABC, A&E, Disney, ESPN, Lucasfilm, Marvel, etc.)
Warner Brothers Discovery (Castle Rock, CNN, Discovery, HBO, Hulu, Life, TBS, TIME, Turner, WB, etc.)
Comcast (Bravo, CNBC, Fanduel, MLB, NBC, NHL, Peacock, Syfy, Telemundo, TiVo, Universal, Xfinity, etc.)
News Corp (Barron's, Financial News, Fox, HarperCollins Publishers, National Geographic, YES, etc.)
Now that they realize no one is going to buy them, they either get subscribers or they'll disappear.
Let them disappear. They were willing to screw with people's lives for money.
They lay off 150 woke employees but they didn’t lay them off because they were woke. The fact is that nearly all of their employees are woke and it would be statistically impossible to lay off that many people without an overwhelming majority of them being woke.
The problem is shows like Umbrella Academy. We use to as viewers use to be able to separate the shoddy lives of actors from the shows we were watching. With UA we have sordid lives of actors contributing to the content of what we are watching. Ellen Page who is now a man is now reflected in the content of the show.
Nevertheless, the “brown out” continues apace in many other places.
Good news for Saturday morning!
