Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is based on the years Captain Christopher Pike manned the helm of the U.S.S. Enterprise. The series will feature fan favorites from season two of Star Trek: Discovery: Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike, Rebecca Romijn as Number One and Ethan Peck as Science Officer Spock. The series will follow Captain Pike, Science Officer Spock and Number One in the years before Captain Kirk boarded the U.S.S. Enterprise, as they explore new worlds around the galaxy.

I looked it up. Kirk’s closest thing to catch phrases was “Take us out” for warp, and “X to beam up” (X being a number) for local travel.

Captain Kirk didn’t say engage

Yeah. "Engage" was a Picard command, as was "Make it so." Kirk usually had a speed in his order, like, "Mr. Sulu, ahead Warp Factor One."

But "Hit it!" is always a good idea.

Good to know. I was not going to watch it because of the utter disastrophe they made out of Picard, the Kelvin timeline movies, and the krapfest of discovery, and even the recent assassinations of wheel of time and lord of the ring and the outright destruction of game of thrones, and the joke of star wars it has been depressing on the scifi/fantasy side since the new battlestar gallactica and Firefly. Maybe they are finally fixing it, I will give it a chance. Btw, Seth McFarlanes Orville is surprisingly good it is not family guy in space.

Oh! I meant to watch Orville! Thanks for the remind!

BTW, this is only the pilot episode of Strange New Worlds. They still have plenty of time to woke-it-up and destroy it. I hope they don’t.

The thing closest to a catch phrase for Kirk was BEAM ME UP.

Someone on this thread reminded me, Kirk would always say “Ahead Warp Factor (whatever)”

BTW, he only once said “Beam me up”, and only once said “Scotty, beam me up.” He most often said “(number) to beam up.”

It’s not James Tiberius Kirk. It’s his father.

There was a brief discussion by Freeper Bikkuri about this show on a thread about "Friends" from May 6th. I thought you might want to see their opinion of the show. The discussion starts at #92:
