I didn’t hear any reference to 1/6 but I did hear the reference to the Second Civil War, and that it was a fight over competing ideas of freedoms and rights.
And that, might actually come to pass.
Well then come over! I got an 8-ball, and Bambi and Suzy coming to my house!
Dude! I’ll be there in 10 hours 42 minutes!
Lord of the Rings was pretty good. It was The Hobbit that got all bent to hell. The female elf was hot but did not belong.
Yup
Ahead warp factor (whatever)
Beam me up
And the once in awhile dramatic “Now! (whoever)”
The second episode of SNW felt better than the pilot. I’ll check out episode three
Sounds good. I’ll definitely check it out.
I can endure slight hints. Hell, even TOS had some woke in it.
No, it’s JT Kirk’s older brother.
Check out the synopsis from ST:TOS for an ep with Sam Kirk:

not sure I agree. Acting is so-so. Compared to most of todays acting, which consists of reading a script, it is good acting. They lost me when Capt. Pike was describing what cataclysmic events on earth and it destroyed 600,000 species! Not people but species.
Oh man... it’ll be hard to watch knowing what became of Pike.
Beep.
(Pike agrees)
Well done.
Thanks for the link.
Been Trekie since Kirk.
Rewatched some Piccard and Janeway episodes a few years ago. The “woke” was strong in some episodes and I didn’t notice it at the time. (Didn’t fall for it either!)
uh, dunno about the un-woke part. in episode one, they use scenes from the Jan 6 election protest at the capitol in their video montage of the unrest that led to world war iii.
. . . and they intended it that way. I’ll leave it to you to google it. so, it’s at least that woke.
Hmmm...
Hadn’t even crossed my mind to take a chance and watch it...
Did not make it through episode #1 of Discovery before making an appointment with the dentist for a root canal instead...
Based on your opinion will give it a try... Just as soon as I finish watching the Firefly series for the zillionth time...
Times are tough...
Communists in the WH...
No Doctor...
No operating Constitution...
Maybe this Pike guy is the answer...
Thank you for posting this Laz...seriously.
I’ma try it now.
As far as I could tell, no blame was truly assigned, it was just the reporting of the conflicts that happened. At least thats what I got out of it.
The reference to 1/6 was visual, via (likely) actual footage of the protests from that time with picketers showing signs such as “audit the vote.” Pike calls it the fight over competing ideas on freedom and rights, or the second civil war, which then became the eugenics war, which became WWIII.
The eugenics war was when Khan Noonien Singh was using illegal gene therapy and selective breeding to create a master race (eugenics) and was forced into exile from the Earth for that. The trek fan wiki covers references to WWIII and the Second Civil War from other star trek series (Enterprise, DS9, TOS, Picard). I don’t know how much of that is true, though; I don’t remember all those references, just the KHAN! of TOS ep and ST movie fame. It’s just there for you to read, if you want.

“It’s a damn good pilot. I hope they learned their lesson with Discovery.... stupid WOKE and over-the-top special effects.”
The Orville (although a bit uneven, combining comedy and sci-fi) is absolutely watchable, with “good enough” special effects that don’t blast your eyeballs every three minutes. It has been called the closest thing to “Star Trek: The Original Series” on TV.
