This is my Trek XCaliber7 29er on the Poudre Trail in northern Colorado.

I'm posting this because of the presta vs schraeder discussion.

The shop owner had to trade out the front wheel on this one to another customer, so because of that (and because he's a friend), he gave me a big ol' discount on this bike.

So the front tire is a Schraeder and the real (original) is a Presta.

Anyway, I highly recommend Bike Peddler Greeley if you're in the area.

"I chose solution #3: drill out the rims with a 5/16” bit, deburr, and use Schrader tubes."

Done that also when I did not have a tube for a totaled tube, but for quickly helping other persons with their bikes option 2 has worked well to get things rolling again. I did not mention this but I reacted from experience providing free help in an lower income city with cheap bikes, by the grace of God.

"How is this any meaningful advantage? I have a ten speed that has the kickstand bracket which makes it so in order to get the back tire off I have to deflate it first. It takes 5 seconds. How much faster does it need to be? "

I hear you. Maybe in racing where seconds counts? And of course, consumers want what the "pros" use. But also, as WP states, The weakest point of a bicycle rim is usually the hole for the valve stem. The smaller hole for a Presta valve makes it possible to have extremely narrow wheels while maintaining sufficient strength in the wheel.

But then there is the "The Dunlop valve, (also called a Woods valve or an English valve) is a type of pneumatic valve stem in use—mostly on inner tubes of bicycles—in many countries, including Japan,[1] Korea, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, most European countries, and a number of developing countries."

"Solution #1 is not ideal as Prestas are so fragile they can and do easily break when putting the adapter on. Often the Adapter will get stuck on the Presta causing you to have to buy a new tube and new adapter. "

Not my experience, though a couple times the whole valve has come out.

"Solution #2 is bad too, Presta again brake. See the picture above. The Presta broke and one part was stuck in the pump rendering it useless. "

Not my experience either after many times, but at the price I paid then the cost would be small. But thanks for the feedback.

I rode by this Institute that is part of Humboldt University a bunch of times so I decided to check the grounds.
Behind I found a beach volleyball net, couple of ping-pong tables, a full basketball court (off picture to the right) and thought this is a great place.

A block further to the left was... this Thing. I don't really know what that is.

Looking the other way from behind It is a cafeteria. But I didn't go there because I was happy with the two bananas I had in my pockets.

Look at the size of that red door. I would like to see what they have parked behind that! What's with that crazy big-ass pipe? I was there and I don't even know. School kids my daughter's age (12) came out of the door on the right. Some of them climbed up the stairs of the Thing. I thought sparks or something might fly out when the door opened. But then they just sat down.

The approximately 20 meter high Trudelturm in the Berlin district of Adlershof is a technical monument from aviation research that was built between 1934 and 1936.

In 2011, the tower served as the backdrop for the semester photo of Fons Matthias Hickmann 's class at the Berlin University of the Arts . The class members stand on the outside staircase of the building. [2] This motif was later picked up by the band Rammstein : On the cover of the album Zeit , which will be released in 2022, the band members are also standing on the outside staircase of the building.
Well that's good to know.

Went to Wannsee Beach for the first time.

On the way there I got a little lost but was glad because I saw this interesting deep gully bridge.

On the way back I got a little lost but was glad because I looked at this street sign.

This is a test video after moving my GoPro8 from the basket to the handlebar. I recommend to turn the sound off and listen to music instead. The front wheel had an annoying squeak that soon after fixed itself from the bumpy ride though the forest (and please excuse my sniffling).
This video is from post #31.
You can see in the video how stable it is while the basket is moving all over the place. That's what's really good about the GoPro8 I have. I am going to remove the basket. Maybe get a bag. Battery wasn't fully charged so it's a short video. Missed videoing the best part of the ride in the forest, which is when the dirt road changes to old cobblestones and has sandy pits at the sides. You have to decide between one death or the other. But there is a very narrow band of trail showing itself here and there and you have to keep bounding towards it. It's definitely in the top 3 dangerous rides I have done. I will make a longer/better video soon.
