President Biden is not very good at his job, and yet, I thank God every day that Biden is president. In the Ukraine crisis, he has redeemed the hopes of those who voted for competence. The administration’s warnings to Moscow were unambiguous without being hysterical. Our revelations of intelligence unmasking Russian disinformation and false flag narratives were on the nose. Biden’s coordination with European allies was a skillful presentation of unity (special kudos to Secretary of State Antony Blinken).
There were some missed opportunities. The president should have placed the invasion of Ukraine in a broader historical context and outlined how the struggle between democracy and authoritarianism is the defining issue of our time, whether abroad or at home. And he ought not to suggest or pretend that Americans can be spared any hardship, even higher gas prices, during this fight.
But Biden sees clearly what sort of menace Russian President Vladimir Putin is. Only the most obtuse or twisted soul could fail to see it … which brings us to the president’s predecessor.
A quick refresher on former President Donald Trump’s relations with Putin and Ukraine leaves little doubt that far from deterring Putin, he was Putin’s most reliable “useful idiot.”
Trump wasn’t the first president to go soft on Putin, of course. Barack “Tell Vladimir I’ll have more flexibility after the election” Obama plowed that ground very well. But at least Obama knew what he was doing. He chose diffidence and called it wisdom. Trump was a dupe and a dope, a walking refutation of the adage “you can’t kid a kidder.”
At Trump’s first meeting with Putin, he accepted the Russian’s denials of election interference

The 19th Amendment was the reason for the 21st.
When nukes are obliterating American cities, Biden voters are gonna be like, “Just imagine how much worse this would be if Trump were president!”
I am stunned. I would not have believed her to be that utterly stupid.
Russia would not be in Ukraine right now if Trump were president.
Mona Charen rose to prominence at a time when the “conservative movement” was believing the Year of the Woman garbage (Feinstein, Boxer, Murray, etc...) and were trying to say “but some of our best friends are women” or something equally clunky. This resulted in promoting Mona Charen, Christine Todd Whitman, and other fake conservatives and n the 90s.
She has Stockholm syndrome I am pretty sure.
Wow, she is dumb. Most of the Russia stuff was made up, so of course he appeared to accept the denial.
30 years ago when I subscribed to the Conservative Chronicle I thought she was their best writer.
But, then again, I also used to buy Ann Coulter books…
It’s a nice fantasy, but nothing will change, since no state will deny women the vote.
One of Billy Kristol’s side-kicks...
Still all worried about Trump...
Moaning Charlatan
But Biden sees clearly what sort of menace Russian President Vladimir Putin is.

Why he’s Hitler...Satan...Cthulhu...the Boogeyman. But only if you are a Globalist/Neo-Con. Otherwise sit back and enjoy as Europe actually starts increasing thier defense spending and taking the reposnsibility of defending themselves upon themselves.
It’s Spring. Neo-Cons are busting out all over.
This lady is delusional.
Trump did a good job of rooting out faux conservatives. These idiots voted for Biden and then have the gall to say they’re conservatives.
They seem to love inept Romney type leaders.
It is nice to see what our supposed conservative allies are really like.
The only one of those people that admitted he was wrong was Glenn Beck.
Katie Pavlich?
Brent Bozell?
Mr. Meghan McCain? (Ben Domenench)
Thank God mona charon’s not on my reading list.
So she’s glad Biden is President now because of the invasion of Ukraine - an invasion his policies enabled - and an invasion that would likely have not occurred at all if Trump were still President? Extraordinary logic.
Did she also write a column like this in the aftermath of the disastrous Afghanistan pullout about how to best manage that disaster - again a disaster that would not have occurred at all if Trump had been President vs. Biden?
