I admit I saw this elsewhere but I thought it might be a good thing to put here because honestly I look and listen to songs people post. I am always entertained and it opens my mind to many different avenues of musical tastes I have not known before. I hope ones like this column.
“God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy”
Billy Currington
Denver’s version of ‘Darcy Farrow’, written I think by John Prince, is another beautiful ballad that tells a very tragic story.
“Big Iron’’ by Marty Robbins as covered by Bob Weir.
Nobody covers Marty Robbins better then Weir.
I like the ones that end “in a cottage filled with laughter.”
But I do LOVE a good ballad. I’ll check it out.

He still lives in this old house.
Nice picks! South Side of the Sky is my favorite Yes song. Only saw it live once...as a tour-ending encore while backup band Gryphon came onstage one by one to jam along. (1974? One month tour to intro Relayer and Patrick Moraz, saw first and last shows)
Indeed. I’m surprised more folks don’t know it. Shame really.
Cheers!
Wreck of the Edmund Fitgerald
American Pie
Operator and Leroy Brown by Jim Croce
And a local classic from Chicago - The Lincoln Park Cowboy, by Johnny and the Leisure Suits
Trying to pick one is too much work
Then “Blow up your TV” would be a good song. :-)
Who cares what you think? It’s about your favorite story song. I notice you didn’t share any”favorites”. Maybe your just a grump old Canadian. LOL
