Jan. 6 Panel Has Evidence for Criminal Referral of Trump, but Splits on Sending
WASHINGTON — The leaders of the House committee investigating the Capitol attack have grown divided over whether to make a criminal referral to the Justice Department of former President Donald J. Trump, even though they have concluded that they have enough evidence to do so, people involved in the discussions said.
The debate centers on whether making a referral — a largely symbolic act — would backfire by politically tainting the Justice Department’s expanding investigation into the Jan. 6 assault and what led up to it.
Since last summer, a team of former federal prosecutors working for the committee has focused on documenting the attack and the preceding efforts by Mr. Trump and his allies to reverse his defeat in the 2020 election. The panel plans to issue a detailed report on its findings, but in recent months it has regularly signaled that it was also weighing a criminal referral that would pressure Attorney General Merrick B. Garland to open a criminal investigation into Mr. Trump.

Send it!!
I want to see there evidence!
Just like the evidence the promised on Russian collusion.
Just like the evidence on tax evasion
Just like the evidence on the emoluments
Just like the evidence of hiding phone records
Show me the evidence, and saying peaceful isn’t evidence
Oh wow, I see that. It’s a NY Times story that this website seems to have hijacked. I don’t see any ads on it though, on the other hand I have adblock installed on my browser
Like the “evidence” they supposedly had to impeach him for made-up Russian collision?
They got nuthin.
Why is a committee of Congress (even a legitimate one), or the whole Congress itself, allowed to send a “criminal referral”?
Congress is not. last time I looked, a Grand Jury. They are not allowed to pass Bills of Attainder. They are not allowed to pass Ex Post facto laws.
They are, in fact, not a law enforcement body at all.
Just in case anyone needs a reminder (Amendment V): “No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger”
The FBI is nothing but the SA Storm Detachment/Brownshirts of the Democrap party today. If you read about Germany 1930s, what the SA did is exactly what the FBI is doing today only this time white Republicans are the "Jews". The scumbags working for that organization are nothing but traitors to the USA. If they were patriots they would resign.
And if they were the Supreme Court?
The Supreme Court is not allowed to charge anyone with a crime, either.
In fact, they have no power to compel testimony or to investigate ANYTHING without a legitimate legislative purpose.
Then why put all those nice people through “interrogation”. Very Russian of them.
If they criminally indict Donald Trump — the first time in American history that one administration would criminally indict a previous one — it would be a sign that America has descended into a full-on Soviet-style dictatorship.
It would be a Go Sign.
Tread lightly, a-holes.
Coming up with the name of a crime will be left up to the reader.
Congress urgently desires suggestions.
Well as far as I’m concerned we have domestic enemies of the USA occupying our government as well as the Oval office. So as domestic enemies I would imagine they are doing whatever they feel like doing until we can somehow end their occupation. They are animals who do not give one rats ass for the constitution, the declaration or the citizen.
Supreme Donkeys
In other news kids just stared at their candy this week.
I think some/a few are.
They will look for ways out (retire, transfer to another agency...).
I do believe there are many that mean well and have come to realize just how political this organization has become. Comey protecting HRC and then leaking crap about Trump to the MSM... January 6, then going after parents at school boards at request of a teachers union (WTF?)...
The FBI does a lot of good too, but all government agencies have political appointed leadership, and they all do their masters bidding at the most senior levels. But realize, that can be said about ALL of government!
The problem is that things get very dangerous for a Republic when the security/intel apparatus becomes political. In the past, there was a greater degree of professional neutrality and it was at least not as apparent as it is today. Today you get tarmack meetings (Lynch-HRC), and FISA surveillance of Trump during the elections and we all know who was being fed the information... Historically such an event, if uncovered would cause resignations, impeachment (Watergate)... Today the MSM just runs with a bullshit Russian collision story (distract and taking the offense).
Today’s FBI can’t find Hunters laptop even if folks want to hand it to them. They can’t figure out that two Chechen brothers are a threat even if the Russians tell us these two guys are shit heads. But after 6 January the FBI can be counted on to use facial recognition, cell phone data, bank and airline information to chase down even those that broke no law and treat them like a subject in an investigation (obvious intimidation).
The difference between the brown shit of today vs. the past is that it’s done with a smile.
Everyone in the “committee” could be tried for some crime.
a largely symbolic act
This committee exists to gin up criminal referrals without any semblance of due process. It spits on right guaranteed by the constitution. It ignores processes and procedures that would no doubt be a required by any investigation launched by federal law enforcement.
We have fortunately not yet had the Stalinist prosecution of political adversaries, but it seems that is no longer the case with the Democrat J6 political persecution committee.
Imo if they had anything they’d be falling over each other to get to a camera and microphone
Discovery ought to be a hoot...
