All wars are full of lies. Winston Churchill famously said, “In wartime, truth is so precious that she should always be attended by a bodyguard of lies.”
We accept that idea broadly. Secret invasion plans should be closely held. The identities of spies must be kept under wraps. New weapons and defensive tools should not be revealed because enemies will be alerted to their potential and begin offensive workarounds.
Still, just because the government has legitimate reasons to deceive the public in wartime does not mean that citizens don’t have a duty to find the truth to the extent they can.
The Russian-Ukraine kinetic war and the broader U.S.-Russian economic war are full of more lies than any public events I’ve seen in my lifetime including Vietnam, Watergate and the Iraq War.
That’s how big the lies are…

“Secondary sanctions have been imposed so that if another nation like China sells goods to Russia made with U.S. technology or machines, that nation will be punished also.”
The United States will punish China? Seriously? With our oligarchs and multinational companies so in love with the Chinese system this does not seem reasonable.
It appears that Putin has launched an unprovoked and unjustified invasion on the sovereign state of the Ukrain-————————————————————
You should take some time to look at the history of how we got to this point... These UKR boundaries were just administrative convenience for the USSR back in the 1950’s. I don’t consider this UKR gov to be either legitimate or sovereign. This gov is the result of the 2014 coup led by Obama’s CIA.The country is about 1/3 polish,1/3 uke,1/3 russian and long overdue for a repartition like yugoslavia.
What, are you saying Russia has not invaded the Ukraine?
Say something coherent and affirmative for a change.
That was a very good post by you!
Nice post. Nice to see another sane person.
If Russian military was humiliated in a war that is 5 or 6 weeks old, how badly was USA humiliated when it’s military could not defeat pajama clad soldiers in Vietnam after a DECADE, could not defeat camel humpers in Afghanistan after a DECADE, and Iraq was a big fiasco also.
People who live in glass houses should avoid casting stones at others.
Well many including Ukraine itself would disagree with you. There is a strong argument that the Ukraine is a sovereign nation.
The history goes back to probably the dissolution of the USSR and Putin wanting to resurrect the USSR. Putin's unprovoked attack has destroyed the lives of millions of innocents lives and I don't see how that can be justified.
“If Russian military was humiliated in a war that is 5 or 6 weeks old, how badly was USA humiliated when it’s military could not defeat pajama clad soldiers in Vietnam after a DECADE, could not defeat camel humpers in Afghanistan after a DECADE, and Iraq was a big fiasco also.”
Badly. Thank you for supporting my point.
Perhaps you do not know the difference between a blitz and a formal siege. It is clear that they ran troops down the road thinking that they could take Kyiv with little resistance. If their objective was not Kyiv why then did they attack it from both the north and the east? I will concede that perhaps with their overwhelming superiority of artillery that they might be able to level and take Kyiv. But this would have been a protracted and bloody affair (see Stalingrad), the precise opposite of a blitz.
The Russian may well win in the end, but for now they tried to capture Kyiv and failed.
Why? You wouldn’t understand it.
I’ll say it for the others who might read this: This clown said it was ‘unjustified’. Maybe it is. We don’t really know. But he said it in reply to another person’s quite detailed explanation of what may be a perfectly valid explanation for why it actually isn’t so unjustified.
This clown just repeats Fox News neocon war mongering bullcrap like a mindless automaton and then decides he wants others to ‘say something coherent’. I laugh at him, because anything more serious isn’t worth my time.
Dang, man. Go learn how to put together an actual coherent and supportable argument IN GOOD FAITH.
There seems to be a contingent here including you who are simply attack dogs showing no supportable rhyme or reason, just full of personal attacks.
Usually that means you don’t know what the hell you’re talking about.
I do that for people who are arguing in good faith themselves. You came along and spouted idiotic and ignorant talking points in response to a post much more thoughtful than yours. Maybe you should try following your own advice.
Really? You sure? Try reading what I wrote again. I said I couldn’t see how this attack could be supported.
What do I get from the likes of you? Pure b#ll sh#t. No supportable argument that justifies the Ukraine invasion.
As I said, that usually means that you don’t know what the hell you’re talking about, trying to cover for having no supportable argument whatsoever.
Get lost.
Perhaps it is you that should read up on some history. An independent Ukraine dates back to 1917 with the creation of the Ukrainian People's Republic. Other than Crimea (which as added to Ukraine in 1954) the borders between Ukraine and Russia go back to 1922.
This gov is the result of the 2014 coup led by Obama’s CIA.
Even if true, that is a problem for the Ukrainians to resolve, not the Russians.
The country is about 1/3 polish,1/3 uke,1/3 russian and long overdue for a repartition like yugoslavia.
According to the 2001 census, Ukraine is 77.8% Ukrainian, 17.3% Russian, and only 0.3% Polish. Even in Donbas, Luhansk Oblast is 58% Ukrainian and only 39% Russian; and Donetsk Oblast is 56.9% Ukrainian and only 38.2% Russian. The Russian population in these two oblast is concentrated mainly in the cities with the countryside being overwhelmingly Ukrainian. Only Crimea has a Russian majority with 67.9% Russian and 15.7% Ukrainian.
Putin wanting to resurrect the USSR
The first casualty of war is always the truth. Believe NOTHING.
IMO the only thing that's believable is that Putin wants to landlock Ukraine, cutting them off from the sea. That will choke Ukraine and that's what Putin wants to do. Whether or not Putin intends anything beyond this, no one knows.
"Buffer space" from NATO? That's a lie. "Fascists" in Ukraine? Yeah, ok. We have them here in the US. They're called "antifa" and blm. Russia gonna invade us too?
Anything else in all this is pure, unadulterated bovine fecal matter.
Oh, and BIDEN'S FAULT too. Him and the alleged 81,000,000 DUMBASSES who voted for him. Were it not for the stolen election, none of this would be happening right now.
Yeah, your ‘argument’ of repeating dumb talking points was very ‘supportable’. Pointless to bother with you. The last coherent thought you had must have died of loneliness years ago.
You can carry on repeating your idiotic neocon talking points now. I’m sure George Soros will reward you for pushing his BS.
You should really try reading things writers on this since the fall of the Soviet Union back in 91... you got 30 years of people predicted this war was going to be caused by the west action ...
Funny how Putin could go baci it time and create all this Propaganda
Good post. It rings true. Not much else does.
“You should really try reading things writers on this since the fall of the Soviet Union back in 91... you got 30 years of people predicted this war was going to be caused by the west action ...”
People can predict whatever they want. Ultimately, Putin invaded a sovereign country on his border because he wanted control of its wealth and access to the Black Sea. You can swallow Russian propaganda if you want, but Putin is on record as saying his goal is to recreate the power of the Soviet Union. And boy did he miscalculate with this step. It’s a complete disaster for him. He will be very lucky to survive it.
