I worked for FedEx back in the 80s. I thought Smith would have already been retired!

Nice! I did nearly 18 years for them. I always appreciated his union busting attitude. Though, back in the 90’s pay raises were stagnant and just the threat of unions in PA seemed to light a fire and they started upping hourlies. Not sure if they are still union free today though....

No, I would bet the Yale prof would stick to his guns and still say it was a stupid idea. Facts don’t matter to libtards, especially tenured university profs.

I started Jan 1990. First three numbers were 111. I think they have got to be around 500-600k by now. I loved how you could move around and since I was in my mid-20’s, I took advantage of it Still have so many friends from those days. And I hope (at least) Express stayed Union free. I’ll need to ask.

We earned our keep tho, didn’t we? Lol.

I later went to work for the Fed Govt. omg. My peers were like chill. You don’t work for FedEx anymore lol. Not my style tho. FedEx required an impeccable work ethic.

“ In the early days of FedEx, Smith had to go to great lengths to keep the company afloat. In one instance, after a crucial business loan was denied, he took the company’s last $5,000 to Las Vegas and won $27,000 gambling on blackjack to cover the company’s $24,000 fuel bill. It kept FedEx alive for one more week. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frederick_W._Smith

Similar to Charlie Ergen of Dish Network. He kept his company afloat by counting cards in Vegas. They won’t let him gamble there anymore. Back in the day, my former employer distributed some of his products. He was in town and went to the local tribal casino and won a bunch of money counting cards because they had no idea who he was.
