Shoot the dogs and then shoot the owner.

I have no idea, he just told me about it.

This guy really loved dogs too, but after the pit attacked his kid and cost thousands in bills, that dog had to go.

They tried talking to the neighbor a number of times to keep the dog leashed or locked up or whatever, the guy was very dismissive and just couldn’t be bothered.

I have frequented the local dog park for years with my dogs. we have dogs get into it all the time. Sometimes it is deadly serious. When bad encounters happen with Pitts the reason most times is the owner ignores all the signs they have a dog with issues. really bad attacks don’t just happen, most time before there is a bad attack by a Pitt there is a lot of warnings in its behavior that their dog has issues and should not be in a park.... The big difference I have known is when another dog kills another dog it is usually a pit. The owners usually make excuses for the dog in the days or weeks leading up to an attack.

My nephew, thank God, called me when he was considering getting a dog for the family. First words out of his mouth at the time was a pitbull.

I told him it was not a good idea. Especially a rescue pit, because the shelters and rescues are known to lie about the dog’s temperaments. I encouraged him to research the breed further if he did not believe what I was telling him as a professional animal behavior consultant. Rescues often let their hearts get in the way of public safety. I cannot express how many times I have heard from a pit rescue foster, “The dog was fine here, the new owners must have done something to trigger the dog.” And the rescues are never held to account for their negligence or poor placements.

It is a breed I do not trust, ever. A few weeks later my nephew called back and said he never realized the inherent dangers of the breed after doing some research.

My nephew saved up the money and the family ended up with a french bulldog instead. Every dog in the local shelter was some form of pitbull or pitmix.

My landlord a few years back had a pitbull. Beautiful dog. She loved me because I took her for walks a lot. But I could see that she was just a naturally aggressive dog. When other dogs sniff each other out and stuff, they usually end up wanting to play but she ended up wanting to fight. A rescue pit bull.

Another landlord had never owned a dog. Got a beautiful mix hound of some sort. They loved that dog but it did not like me. I asked for permission multiple times to just take the dog out for walks, then he’d be happy to see me. That landlord had some kind of psychological problem and didn’t see anything wrong with his dog coming around to attack me whenever it felt like it. I eventually got a restraining order against the landlord, had to have that dog on a leash at all times. On his own property. Rescue dog — but the abuse profile of the dog fed into the psycho issues of the landlord.

This database is always a good resource. I believe these dogs should be humanely euthanized when they come into shelters funded by the public immediately after any required waiting period (in case an owner is looking for them). Their numbers should be reduced to the greatest extent possible. The breed has proved to be extraordinarily dangerous over a long period of time.

Here is a reply from a typical emotional and biased pit Bull owner that I pulled from another conversation on FB. Notice her argument lines you see over and over with the breed owners:
1. love as a feeling is used “my previous sweet babies”
2. the owners are at fault
3. The breed is fine and safe
4. The dogs were mistreated

“sorry, but you need to do your research, first, pit bull isn’t even correct, they are all part of the terrior breed. The original use of “pit bulls” were as Nanny dogs. They are protective, I don’t disagree, but the evil souls that use them for fighting should all be chained up in cages and left starving and outside.
I have 2 that are precious sweet babies. I have been rescuing “pit bulls” since getting education on them and they are given such an unfair stigma. There are dogs that have been mistreated, abused, used for fighting and they may not be able to be rehabilitated, but it is worth trying, they are a living breathing soul. It’s not fair to call it on the entire breed. Look at our world, would you say all Russians are bad based on what is happening? So how can 1 sit and say the same about an animal?
I will fight for the breed, I will continue to rescue and save all animals. I’m not sure where your information is coming from”

Amazingly she claims her opponent needs to research when actual researched websites like dogsbite.org refute HER. I politely gave her the address and she didn’t comment back to me.

Agree. But the marketing genius of “adopt don’t shop” has guilted potential dog owners from purchasing a dog they truly would want into “rescuing” (make no mistake, the adoption fee IS a purchase) a dog of unknown history.

It used to be you could go to a shelter and pick out different breed mixes and feel pretty good about it.

Almost all dogs I. Shelters here are pit or pit mixes. The rescuers here get called when puppies or small dogs are brought in and the rescuers get first dibs on those becSies those are easily sold err I mean adopted out. What’s left are the pit bulls and pit mixes. Sometimes, maybe a hound or two.

I just had our old half pit put down. She was 15 years old and finally couldn’t stand up due to back leg/hip issues. She was a good dog and grew up with the kids. I don’t fully trust pure pit bulls. The biggest problem is, a bunch of aholes own them and try to make them mean. They also pay no attention to breeding so I’m sure there’s a lot of inbreeding being done and sometimes it’s just a matter of the owners not getting the dogs fixed because that costs money and many of the owners are meth heads. The dogs are allowed to inbreed at will.

German Shepards 1970s
Dobermans 1980s (Rosebud)
Rottweilers 80s-90
Chow chows for a short time

Now the badass fad dog is the pit bull and because of their super strength jaw and tendency to not let go no matter what, they are the most dangerous. Rottweilers were just so big that not many people got them. Even people who think they’re badass were scared of rotties. A doberman on steroids.

I would get another half pit without much concern. I’d love to have another Chow. The one I had was NOT a one man dog. She once kicked my neighbor’s shepard/dobie’s butt because it got up in the face of two kids she knew when they were little. They were in their young teens and she hadn’t seen them in 5 years or so but knew who they were and bolted across the yard to protect them.

Meanwhile, my neighbor up the road has a chow that ran out in the road and bit another neighbor’s kid. This chow owner is a bit of a blowhard jackass. ‘magine that.
