What’s wrong with orange shag carpeting? I agree, shag carpet is associated with the Nixon era, popcorn ceilings are associated with the Reagan era.

It’s easy to scrape off. Just let it fall onto the shag carpet, then roll up the carpet (in cut sections for ease) and chunk into the dumpster.
Float the ceiling and paint or, put up some old barn tin(my favorite). Put some vinyl plank flooring down and you are out of the 70’s.

My parents' lasted decades. When it finally wore out, she replaced it with a free one removed from the parlour from the rectory of the modern architecture church in town. (My sister finally bought the house, and went back to the wood underneath!)

I see they use bowls as sinks instead of the normal level with the vanity. A bowl will have water running down the side that needs to be cleaned up.

I was working in a upscale drug dealer’s home,
in 60s. He had orange colored shag in his LARGE
game/bar room, entire floor and two walls!
