I kind of lean toward Peter Gunn, but there are so many.
Mancini wrote it, btw.

The Time Tunnel, a tempo like no other.
Doctor Who, original theme
Mission Impossible
Oh Hell, I loved that song and the song.
Lance Link, Secret Chimp. Really stupid but funny.
Kind on the same level as ALF.
Batman.
Badda badda badda batmaàan
Five O Book it Danno No. 1 As well as being great music the visuals elevate it to the top.
Lost in Spaaaaaace.
“You can tell how old each of us are by the answers to this. Well, sort of. There’s a bit of wiggle room I suppose.”
Well ok but I’ve been watching things- movies, tv- with the kids and I think it’s like I tell my english class students. It’s not good because it’s old. It’s good because it’s good. You guys will be welcome to step it up.
Peter Rabbit, or did you mean Crusader Rabbit?
Too many great tunes already mentioned! So, I’ll toss in one not so well known, but it did such a great job of opening the show:
Babylon 5, 2nd Season

Granted that this one is not just the music, but also the narration and video background B4 the character introductions. Somehow, to me, this B5 intro conveys so many things, including, not entirely unlike Star Trek TOS when it came out, “you are about to watch something unlike any TV show that has preceded it.”
:)
BINGO!
themes from Rawhide and Have Gun Will Travel ...
Bonanza and Peter Gunn
Adams Family or Beverly Hillbilly’s
“The song from the original Jonny Quest show in the 60s.”
JQFTW!!
I was a big fan of science fiction and fantasy as a child, so pardon my questionable taste in music.
My favorites:
Star Trek by Alexander Courage, My #1 of all time.
Space 1999, 1st Season by Barry Gray.
The Greatest American Hero, "Believe It or Not", by Mike Post.
Battlestar Galactica, by Stu Phillips.
Buck Rogers in the 25 Century, by Stu Phillips and Johnny Harris.
Airwolf, by Sylvester Levay.
Knight Rider, by Stu Phillips.
Streethawk, by Tangerine Dream.
Babylon 5,by Christopher Franke.
Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda, Alex Lifeson, "March of the High Guard", it's weirdly beautifully and different.
Last not least, V, by Joe Harnell, which is still haunting to this day.
For regular shows:
Baa Baa Black Sheep, by Mike Post and Pete Carpenter, having the cast read off the first line of the third verse of the Whiffenpoof Song was a nice touch.
Magnum PI, by Ian Freebairn-Smith.
Saint Elsewhere, by Dave Grusin and J. A. C. Redford.
The A Team, by Mike Post.
Hillstreet Blues, by composer Mike Post.
Miami Vice, Jan Hammer and Tim Truman, the music probably helped keep the show on the air for the last two seasons.
Documentary series:
Vietnam, The Ten Thousand Day War, Cameron Hawkins for the theme, Pete Pedersen for the series. Richard Basehart who narrated the introduction to Knight Rider, narrated this series and his narration goes along brilliantly with the music.
Dishonorable mention:
Blue Thunder, for using only snippets of Arthur B. Rubinstein's soundtrack from the film.
From the first Japanese anime that made it to the United States:
Star Blazers / Space Battleship Yamato, by Hiroshi Miyagawa.
Robotech, by Ulpio Minucci, Harmony Gold's adaption of The Super Dimension Fortress Macross.
Wow, so glad that Victory at Sea was mentioned!
Richard Rodgers wrote the score, and I had the album as a kid. Watched every episode of Victory at Sea, and listened to the album for many hours over many years.
Can still remember many of the pieces, especially “Song of the High Seas”, and the one (forget the name) that captured the eerienes of U-boat encounters.
The whole album is truly CLASSICAL!
Peter Gunn (1958) was an ok show. Sherlock Holmes (1954-1955) and Adam 12 (1968-1972) have much better stories. Best theme song? Room 222:
