The nazis should have never attacked the eastern regions that decided not to follow the ethnic cleansing coup. But getting surrounded is good.
Glad they will go into captivity like their heroes at Stalingrad.

Makes sense.

Russia's advantage was biggest early in the campaign. But the monger it drags on, and if the West is willing to keeps supplying the Ukrainians, the advantage inevitably will swing over to the Ukrainians simply because their usable manpower reserves are so much greater.

Russia obviously has more total manpower, but there no hint that the Russia of 2022 is anymore willing to have a mass mobilization and accept mass casualties than was the Soviet Union in Afghanistan, or Russia against Chechnya.

“I watched a video where Azov battalion (their patches were clear as day) holding a house full of civilians hostage in Mariupol. The civilians were all laying face down with their hands behind their backs. Men, women, children. One of that Azov Nazis was plucking away on a piano in the living room.”

I saw that. I also saw reports debunking it, that it was staged. Maybe it was legit; and maybe it wasn’t. The video I saw was from an avowed pro-Russian source. Perhaps that was a re-tweet or a re-post. The debunking? Who knows? Those were from sources I had never heard of; could just be counter-propaganda.

There is so much misinformation flying around (not unusual in war, as propaganda is an established element of fighting a war), that for such a serious allegation, I’d just like to see some credible evidence.

Every Russian who dies in Mariupol won't be fighting again. It's going to turn into a slog.

So far the Russians have not yet taken Mariupol, the forces north of Kiev are being outflanked from the west and their attempt to bypass Kharkov by moving south of Izyum is stalled. Plus the Ukrainians are about to receive some serious anti-ship missiles, which should make Russia's Black sea fleet nervous and dramatically increase the cost to Putin.

Looks to me like Putin is trying to salvage what he can by cutting off a bigger chunk of the eastern oblasts and keeping a land bridge to Crimea.

Who will win? Beats me. It's likely to be a long slog.

The Russians don't have anything close to the numbers to surround effectively significant pieces of territory. The vast majority of "surrounded Ukrainians could slip out.

Just do the math look at the actual frontage of those exterior Russian lines, and add to the the frontage necessary to surround a given piece of territory in Ukraine. The Russians just don't have the numbers.

for such a serious allegation, I’d just like to see some credible evidence.

Who's going to post it?

Do you think CNN, MSNBC or The New York Times would post credible evidence of Ukrainian forces committing war crimes? Kyiv Independent? Not a chance.

Pro-Russian, or even neutral sources can't because they'll get their accounts suspended.

My rule of thumb is this: Virtually every account I've followed on Twitter that's gotten suspended (and that's a lot of accounts because I tend to follow people engaged in wrongthink), it turns out they were right.

Like I said, Twitter doesn't suspend people for lying. They suspend them for telling the truth.

I worry about them eventually becoming a spent force - no reinforcements, no recruits, no ability to sustain offensive operations.

Ukraine has a large number of young men who have served their mandatory military service during the combat in the Donbass region since 2014. Reportedly there are more than 250,000 veterans who have some combat experience in that group.

Ukraine also has a lot of regional defense forces, which are organized local military groups, and plenty of civilians ready to fight as paramilitary fighters.

Ah, yes; mac_truck, of the outed pro-Russia cabal of NorseViking, McGruff, Kazan, Navy Patriot, et als. Someone posted a list of you all a couple weeks ago. frankis4liberty is apparently off the list because he was banned from FR.

Question: Why do you so adamantly support Russia? You routinely vomit out any pro-Russia story and roundly condemn as fake or propaganda anything that does not favor Russia. So, my question is: Why?

I support Ukraine in this fight because it was invaded by a larger and more powerful nation for no credible reason, and it (Ukraine) is fighting for its very existence. Kind of a David and Goliath scenario; and David usually gets the nod. I hate bullies, and in this matter Russia is very much the bully. Hell, if China invaded Russia I’d likely support Russia (both are bullies, but China is the bigger bully; and China is a greater threat to us). But, this is not our (the US) fight, so I am opposed to putting any boots on the ground in Ukraine or helmets in the air over Ukraine. But I have no problem at all arming them to the teeth.

Well, they have a website. And they have been HQ there since they attacked the Donbass.

And Ok sport, Here’s Deutsch Welle calling Azov HQ.

They are cut off and holding civilians hostage.

The first part is true, but the second part is just Putin's propaganda. The only thing keeping civilians in Mariupol is the Russians that kill people trying to flee.

If somehow the Russian Navy’s ability to land troops and supplies into southeastern Ukraine from the Black Sea was stopped, the Russian invasion would collapse quickly.

You mean like this?

Well, I’m not on Twitter and never have been; and I can say with conviction that I likely never will be. Anything Twitter I might see is posted by a FReeper. Twitter is not a news source; hell, it is just a basket for whatever is put into it. So, anything on Twitter is immediately suspect.

but the Russians have been helping them evacuate and Armenia just sent them tons of aid which Russian soldiers are handing out

So the Russians are helping the citizens of Mariupol by bombing them and shelling their houses? How are they handing out the "tons of aid"? Is it packed inside the artillery rounds?

Do you realize how dumb it sounds to argue that the Russians are trying to help the people in a city by shelling and bombing it relentlessly?

the Russian strategy of not holding territory not related to their main focus: denazification of identified units and political figures, and surrounding and destroying Uke military that chooses to stand and fight

LOL. That's a really creative spin on Russia's situation. Who knew that they planned to get bogged down and lose 10,000 soldiers, many top officers, and thousands of vehicles. And the landing ship that was blown to pieces along with its cargo. That's a really sophisticated strategy. Is that how they are going about "denazification"?

In some sense maybe you are right, Russia is clearing out its own Nazi minded invaders by getting them killed in Ukraine.

The thug Putin continues his efforts to steal... First a slice of the Republic of Georgia, then Crimea, then the eastern Ukraine, then an all-out invasion. My family’s Ukraine in the Donbas has been destroyed. Russian- speakers in the East love the Ukraine and will soon be killing more of Putin’s stooges.

But it has been the regular army shelling Donbass civilians for 8 years.

You're back to spouting Putin's propaganda. Care to explain why?

OSCE reports show most shelling exchanges were between Russian and Ukrainian soldiers until Putin invaded. Then his army started shelling civilians, including the Russian speaking citizens of Mariupol.
