This entire thing is being orchestrated by China. The United States is China’s proxy. They would like nothing more than to weaken both nations...especially Putin. China has promised the United States something (not sure yet) if they continue this provocation. And they’ve threatened something IF we don’t.

My view from way down here at average schmuck level sees a couple of different threats. On one hand there is China, on the other hand there is the global elite. I think there two have teamed up in a marriage of convenience because China wants tech, trade, and power, and globalists want money and are singularly prone to mission creep and lying to themselves.
Putin was lured by China, just like the global elite was. I look at it this way, China has motive (they want power and resources), the global elite doesn’t have nearly as strong of a motive because nobody is going to attack Russia, so they don’t need Ukraine as a staging point. The sanctions they are piling on Russia harm their bottom line. The only one that comes out ahead is China.
You can’t really say “look what you made me do” to the West, for leaving the NATO door open to Ukraine, because as we see right now in NATO’s inaction regarding non-member Ukraine, NATO is defensive, not offensive. It is China that is expansionist (just ask India) and that went to the trouble to have extensive meetings with Russia to set all this up and to apparently give them the go-ahead to invade Ukraine after the Winter Olympics.

Speaking to reporters Wednesday, Biden said that he predicts President Vladimir Putin will invade Ukraine and that NATO needs to be in agreement on a response.
“I think what you’re going to see is that Russia will be held accountable if it invades, and it depends on what it does,” Biden said.
“It’s one thing if it’s a minor incursion and we [NATO] end up having to fight about what to do and not to do.”

I’m willing to bet that this is really why Russia was lured into this particular trap.
The buildup on Ukraine’s border began the very next month after the 5 trillion-dollar hole in China’s real estate market began to be reported.

One of the more questionable pranks people have done was to fill a paper bag with dog poop, put it on someones doorstep, light it on fire, and then ring the doorbell. When the homeowner came out the immediate problem seemed to be to put out the fire, so they will stomp on it. At that point warm dog poop squirts all over their shoes and splatters all over their porch.
Ukraine wasn’t really a problem, but it was made to look like a problem so that Russia would invade and get bogged down. Like the homeowner, Russia was the target.
