VANITY I am a long time lurker and occasional poster. I consider Free Republic to be one of the most informative sites available, but I find myself confused with the direction of commentary regarding Russia and the Ukriane. The media, the democrats, George Soros,the UN, the World economic forum. ALL either have LIED to us continually for the last four years or are actively involved in planning the destruction of our nation. At the Risk of being called a putinista or putard I have to ask the question. Why do we accept as fact the narrative that we are being fed by the msm? I for one do not accept the narrative currently being pushed. However there is no question that Russia invaded Ukraine. While I understand Putin & Russia are paranoid about being boxed in by NATO & the EU on the west, that is simply an excuse.
We are also hearing here that Ukraine is a NAZI state, which I doubt. Maybe some of their leaders are neoNAZI, Hell most of ours are total Communist. Kinda like the pot & kettle thing.
No, the only sympathy I have in this fight is for the poor Ukrainian people and maybe the poor Russian conscripts, who I understand may not have even known what was going on until the Elephant suddenly appeared.

I am not advocating Russia be broken into a bunch of minor fiefdoms. Just support beating them up economically and militarily.

I have a theory. Quick overview. Globull warming is the most important threat to the elites, democrats, a lot of Republicans and big tech. There are 9 billion on the planet. The Chinese virus did not do the job it intended to do. The clutching of pearls, the lockdowns, and vaccines were a test to see who would comply and who would not. Now we know Ukraine is the literal breadbasket of the eastern world and people are trying to tell us there will be a massive famine killing millions. We will be able to buy food but the prices will be outrageous and some will not be able to afford it. This is a major cleansing of humans and no one will be held responsible. It’ll be the fault of globull warming and war.
We have one side and the controlled opposition. “They” want a world war to distract us from the coming global monetary devaluation and worldwide economic collapse.
EVERYBODY IS LYING.
And there is nothing we can do about it...except pray....which I urge everyone to do.

I think I disagree with you, if memory serves it was nastier over Trump, a lot more personal attacks.
The troll farm types seem to be in an alternate reality (which they kind of are) and there is a lot more false dilemma arguments with most but not all of them.
I just hope we all muddle through ok. Its like we are dealing with perfectly acceptable people who happen to be brainwashed, like in a cult.

Putin is no angel... He is pretty much the dictator of a socialist nation... and lying is certainly a part of his strategy. However, Putin is NOT a globalist either. He hates the globalists.
Globalists come from the same fabric as Communists and Socialists... they therefore wage war in similar ways... The only difference being their ultimate agenda... World Domination vs Nationalism.
Make no mistake about this... this isn’t about Ukraine, or the USA, or what the Biden’s have been up to... this is about REMOVING PUTIN from power. PUTIN IS THE TARGET here.
Putin is up against the very forces which put the entire globe into lockdown, mask mandates, and forced experimental gene therapy.
If you really want to understand what is really going on, and who to believe, look at what the bible has to say about this period of time... because it is playing out just as the bible predicted.
If you analyze current world events through the prism of biblical prophecy, things start making more sense.

Personally, I think he’s already got China, and got us through them... but we need to stop looking at the leaders of nations to understand who the real power brokers are.

It is shocking to me that so many FReepers are buying the story line from the current regime - the same one that lied its ass off concerning Covid, the same one that blames all of our economic problems on Putin, the same one that claims that they love this country and Western Civilization even as they work to destroy both.
The lack of reasoning skills, of ANY skepticism, is shocking. I only hope that those calling everyone who expresses any doubts a “Putin Puffer” or something similar are young and inexperienced in the ways of the world. Not that we who are older are always right - we’re not, that’s simply not possible - but we’ve been lied to enough over the years and decades to be much more skeptical than those who operate more from their gut than their minds.
Watching the MSM reporting the invasion of Ukraine unnerved me, because it became obvious that the media monolith has decided to report sympathetically to the Ukraine while uniformly vilifying Russia. Raving about and showing pictures of civilian casualties told me that the populace is being psychologically prepared for war. The tone of reporting was completely emotional and avoided objectively communicating facts. Nothing is handled by the media on the basis of what people should know, but how they should feel, and we are being instructed to hate Russia. This is war time propaganda.
From all appearances only one party - Putin - has invaded another country and is indiscriminately bombing civilians. Unfortunately I do take your point, the media has lied to us so much that it does leave room for doubt about the veracity of what is being reported.
I’m 99.5% sure Putin is the bad guy.
That said, I am not sure Ukraine as a government is all that trustworthy. The people are being forced to suffer all this and that’s the tragedy. I also remember that the entire left and media establishment went berserk over Trump’s phone call with Zelensky when he merely asked about past corruption and the replacement of the former Ambassador. They impeached him for it. Something is fishy.
But all that doesn’t justify wanton destruction and attacks on civilians by Putin. It just calls into question whether our leaders and media establishment have other motives driving their narrative.
Ukraine has been painted as the innocent guy being bullied. Is is because biden and his wayward son have had dealings with Ukraine and this is to take our minds off that?
In no way do I trust the narrative.
In the twinkle of an eye the obsession du jour went from the Chinese bug to Russia invading Ukraine. There wasn’t even time to trade in my box of 500 Made in China masks for a Ukrainian flag.
In no way do I trust my government to be telling us the truth and to be doing the right thing for the country’s benefit.
The west is censoring any news that has a Russian origin so the only side that most hear is US propaganda, which is almost 100% BS. I don’t believe a word of anything coming out of the MSM.
The state department runs the propaganda campaign and it has been very effective in getting even MAGA people to go entirely insane.
