Last week, when I picked up my 3- and 5-year-old from school, I found myself drawn to the family pictures that adorn their classroom walls. The teachers asked us to send these photographs along with our children on the first day of school, as both a comfort measure as well as to help the kids get to know each other better. There’s me and my wife, smiling along with our two boys — all of us wearing helmets as we paused our family bike ride to take a photo.

Ron DeSantis (R) is expected to sign, will be banned from providing any sort of “classroom instruction … on sexual orientation or gender identity” before the fourth grade would talk about families such as mine. It’s not just LGBTQ children this legislation will hurt. It’s any kid who considers someone gay, bisexual or transgender to be family."
I was reading this to Mr K (not the one on this forum) and he said in a sort of “that ends it” type voice: “You can’t be a lesbian and be a conservative.”

This is such crap. The teacher ought not be talking much about “family” and when they do they ought just be respectful. Refer tricky questions back to parents.

Did she actually read the bill prior to opposing it? I ha they to read it myself, but from what I’ve heard by way of Andrew Wilkow, it’s only about seven pages, and I believe double spaced.
So they searched to find someone who claims to be conservative, to make the “conservative” case against this legislation.
So then, the liberal Washington Post and other news outlets who pick this up, will say, look, there are conservatives against this legislation. The implication being, only the truly Neanderthal deplorable types, could be in favor of such a discriminatory law. That’s what is going on here.

Christians are nice people. They don’t want to cause a fuss when they see an atypical family. They try to be nice and get along with others. As long as they’re happy, right? As long as the kids are doing well.
And wow, does the Left ever take advantage of that.
This niceness is not a flaw of Xtianity. You’re still supposed to give others a break. However, your family, congregation, community are first in line for that break. Don’t overlook them.
I think it was the poet Maya Angelou who said (I’m paraphrasing here): If you can only be nice to one person a day, make it be someone who is close to you. Give that person your smiles and warmth. Don’t waste your niceness on someone who will never appreciate it.

Thus Bergman, who believes that "books a kid hears at bedtime affect their sleep and also their dreams," is finalizing a series of children's books that all feature lesbian, homosexual, bisexual, gender-confused, or queer kids or families, with the goal that the young readers come to believe that people like him and his family are "absolutely great," that "lesbian, gay, bi, queer, and trans people -- that we exist, that we're perfectly fine and often really excellent."
