Coffee weather for sure, NOT gardening weather!

34 degrees currently (10 am). Forecast on my weather app (somewhat accurate most of the time) is for “heavy rain (with a chance of 1-4 in. of snow) in the morning & afternoon.”

We had a big T-storm around 5:30 this morning that woke me up - lightning flashes & big thunder rumbles as the ‘weather’ came in.

The wind was really gusting this morning around 8 am, but I think it has quieted down. Tomorrow night, the temp is supposed to be a low of 16 degrees!

The trees are coming out with tiny little leaves ... red on the maples & green on the crape myrtles. One of the redbuds, the one that is always the earliest to do anything (we have 5) is looking a little red/dark pink along the branches. I’m thinking the 16 degrees might kill those little blooms - it’s happened before.

My seed order has been confirmed [Dragon Egg & Diva cukes, Dazzling Blue Kale] - waiting for the email to tell me they’ve shipped. I’ve had 2 offers of help to plant them, but my brother says once I’m “fixed” (knee) & with a brace, I’ll be able to do it myself - I hope so! Last frost used to be mid-May, but since we’ve had warmer winters & what seems to be earlier springs, I’ve got a month to a month & a half to get healed up & back into gardening shape.

Latest on the fox - the neighbor was jogging on a nearby road & spotted a (the?) fox .... I do not think they’re denning under our barn this year & that would be a ‘good’ thing.

Coffee, college basketball tournaments*, some knitting, watching the weather ... rain, maybe snow (raining now). It’s going to be a “laid back” Saturday.

*the college alma mater (Virginia Tech) of my dad, both brothers & 5 of my 6 nieces/nephews is in the ACC Tournament Championship tonight - first time in the school’s history to play in the Championship game. They’ve scored big upsets the last 2 games. They play Duke/Coach K tonight -if they win against Duke, it will be a miracle, but anybody can beat anybody on any given day. :-)

Great!

Too cold in much of the country to do much gardening. Lucky for me my planted potatoes and peas haven’t come up yet, and tonight’s low in South Alabama is 23 degrees!

Then it gets back into the mid-70s. Hopefully, not colder again until late November.

Hello, from sunny, chilly North Georgia, where we are having 40mph winds at below freezing temps. I just got home to my warm house after a landscaping install. Bring on the heat and an Irish Cream in my coffee!

Love that coffee! Not doing much gardening these days. Mostly because of the weather and also because I’m not feeling too well. Had a check up with the doctor late last year and she is following me for complications with diabetes. Going for more lab work tomorrow.
