Unfortunately, we seem to be in a historically rare period in which the leaders of 1.5 billion people, i.e., the West, are to a person either feckless, obtuse, senile or some combination of the three.

We promised Russia we would not expand NATO when the Soviet Union fell. We went back on that promise and incorporated almost the entire Eastern Bloc into NATO. There was never any signed agreement, just an alleged verbal understanding. I have said this many times, but since 1991, Russia has violated every arms agreement they have signed with us, making them the most modern and powerful nuclear power in the world with more nukes than the US, UK and France combined. And it is Russia, not the US or NATO, that has nuclear weapons on the border of NATO countries, even up against Poland in Kaliningrad.
Meanwhile, the only protection NATO offers the countries that currently border Russia is: the promise that NATO will defend them. NATO does not have any weapons stationed in Estonia or Lithuania that is a threat to Russia or which could stop a Russian nuclear first strike from the mainland.
So this constant refrain about NATO "violating its promises" and causing this war is a load of horeshit from Russia, and keeps getting repeated by the useful idiots.

Uh oh…this will make all the Bidenista deep staters on FR see a serious rise in blood pressure. Didn’t you get the memo? No other country gets to have security concerns except for us.
Those Freepers think that the saintly Ukrainians have the greatest nation on earth that we must all suffer for to protect at any cost. They are totally willing to ignore that our nation is collapsing from within.

My personal theory is that one aspect of this is a huge money grab by Ukrainian officials. They knew that western civilians would rush to relief efforts and almost all the money is being filtered through Ukrainian officials, not the people there.
As long as the war continues they rake in more and more money. Putin probably gets a slice of it too.

Wow. This dude clearly works for the systemic communist enemy in this new Soviet Union.
ABM was needed. No treaty of gun control or weapon control ever worked.

We promised Russia we would not expand NATO when the Soviet Union fell.Let me rephrase that for you:
After the implosion of the Warsaw Pact and the Soviet Union, some Western politicians made a totally unnecessary concession by making a non-binding verbal promise - functionally equivalent to a flippant, off-the-cuff remark - to not expand NATO.
Why should anyone in the West have knelt down beside the still-twitching body of the moribund Soviet Union and made any such unnecessary "promise," I ask you?
Regards,

Good morning to everyone except the POS Republican and Democrat politicians who are about to fork over $14 billion to Ukraine without blinking an eye.
The same people who wouldn’t give Trump one red cent for the southern border wall to protect our own country.

This guy is quite confused. Putin had Hillary are the ones that off the opposition. Trump and Putin are not deep state so that is why they are under attack. Nato and Un are deep state. Ukraine is between Asia and Europe and a center for crime like human traffic, drugs, smuggling... Putin is a thug but no wonder he has issues with Ukraine. I wonder if the author of the article is deep state.

We only get one side of this, and we know it. So the SCARIEST PART, for me at least, was the way so many conservatives became Bidenistas, unquestionably believing the media narrative. I thought I’d never see that day.
