Standing in a boat in suburban Fort Lauderdale, Chris Whitaker aimed a .25-caliber air rifle at a large green iguana on a canal bank and squeezed the trigger.
Whitaker and his girlfriend, Krissy Garcia, had paid $500 to Hunting Iguanas LLC for four hours of iguana hunting in Broward County, where the nonnative reptiles have found a congenial home along canals lined with a lush variety of trees.
Hated in many neighborhoods for consuming flowers, fruit trees and vegetable gardens, green iguanas have become a business opportunity for several companies that lead guided hunts along South Florida canals. While many residents cheered on the iguana hunters on a recent excursion, the air rifles required several shots for a kill, subjecting many iguanas to lingering deaths.
Whitaker, 29, an experienced hunter, had flown to Fort Lauderdale from Tyler, Texas, with his girlfriend just to try his hand at shooting iguanas. “I saw it on Facebook, and I thought, ‘Man, I gotta do this,’” he said.
They shot 26 iguanas off trees and off the canal banks, moving slowly through the network of canals that have kept the neighborhood dry in what used to be the Everglades. Krissy Garcia brought down a couple of large ones, their skin a combination of orange, brown and green.
Along the canals, residents cheered on the hunters for taking down reptiles who consumed their gardens and fruit trees. The iguanas’ industrious digging also damages power lines, sidewalks and seawalls.
“Thank you for doing this, man!” James Mathew shouted from his backyard on the canal bank. “I was happy when I see you guys doing this.”
He said the iguanas have devoured all his attempts to grow things.

Can’t understand just what does he say?
Just got a suppressor the other day for my air rifles- makes a huge difference. If I were gonna depend on pellet rifle for survival I think I’d go with .30 cal and a .45 for large game if food became scarce- plenty of power to take deer and wild pigs.
I bought an air venturi avenger .22 and wow is it accurate. I shoot about 80 yards, and it is very accurate if the wind isn’t blowing too hard. I get a out 110 shots on a fill which is great. My seneca .25 gets only about 40

One thing is certain, in the world of PCP air rifles, there's a lot of beautiful rifles out there. I'm thinking that my next one might be either an FX MK-III compact or the Brocock Atomic XR like that gal Jessica shoots

I bought the .22 for target practicing. The rounds are cheaper, and it gets a lot more rounds per fill, so I can do,a good session without having to refill air. It’s a cheap-ish gun at $340, and reviews were great for the accuracy on them. Thougn they don’t stand up to an fx for real long distance shooting or energy produced.

The sweaters go in the wash for felting, a fancy word for shrinking. Usually, warm regular to thicken them up, sometimes hot. WARNING! I once used the sanitize cycle; it came out has large dryer balls!!! Forever felted together.
Then the dryer, clean your lint trap!
Cut the sweaters along the main seams. On both sides to remove the seams.
Layout.
The hard part.
I do most of the sewing with a serger (overlocker); straight lines are the easiest. With wool, puckers on curves can usually be worked out with water and an iron.
Make panels of a similar height from the large cuts and sew the small pieces into panels. Trim sides straight.
Our grandkids like the pockets and some buttons left in place. Sometimes a whole front; fill in to make a large panel.
Sew the panels into strips of the desired with.
Sew the strips to make the length.
Trim and bind the edges.
EASY PEASY.
Tastes like chicken. Really. Tried it in SE Asia once.

Check YouTube. Lots of iguana “services” in South Florida. Their burrowing can ruin bridges, and there’s a surprising (to some) amount of agriculture down there.

We were at Las Hades in Manzanillo, Mexico. They have an iguana habitat there. They roam around everywhere. And the ones there are old and huge. They like the pool area and will lay under the recliners by the pool. Didn’t seem to bother anyone else but freaked me out!
