The Felicity Ace was being towed to land when it began to list to starboard in heavy seas about 250 miles off the Portuguese island chain and took on water in heavy seas, according to the ship's manager.
The Portuguese navy confirmed that it sank in a location outside of Portugal's territorial waters that is over two miles deep.

If each car averaged $50,000 value (its probably higher) - that’s a $200,000,000 cargo at the bottom of the ocean!
The ship was bound for Rhode Island, but caught fire thousands of miles away.
The Capt of the ship got the call,” we heard your cars warranty has expired”.
I think all my guns were on that boat too.

On May 28, 1937, the government of Germany—then under the control of Adolf Hitler of the National Socialist (Nazi) Party—forms a new state-owned automobile company, then known as Gesellschaft zur Vorbereitung des Deutschen Volkswagens mbH. I saw one report that the whole cargo claim would be $438 million.
Starting price on almost any of these except some VWs would be $100K plus. Some 2x - 4x that much.

Raise the ship, take the cars to the scrappers in Missouri! Instead of scrapping them, they will clean them, straighten dents, get them running. Then slip them down into Arkansas where they can be sold through the Auto Auctions without titles.
And for $45 they can get a good clean Arkansas title showing the autos have never been wrecked or flooded, and ONLY driven to Church on Sundays by the car dealer’s grandma.
Based on pics I’ve seen of battery fires, there may not be much usable stuff to rehab there.
there you go thinking again...
Ahhhhhhh
