A couple of years ago, I was driving down the street and something flashed in front of me. I stopped the car, not knowing what that was. It turned out to be an eagle carrying a live cat in its talons.
That cat was fighting for its life; but, it lost. The eagle just held it down for a few secs, then flew off with it, probably to it's nest.
Fast forward a couple of weeks and I get an email from our neighborhood group telling me that some woman is looking for her cat which disappeared a week or so ago. It had a link, so I went to the link and there it was, the cat that I had seen losing a fight with an eagle. It was the color of the fur (calico) that hit my memory bank and I was right back to that day watching that eagle take that cat.
Now, my dilemma. Do I tell this woman that an eagle ate her beloved pet cat, or do I just let her think that it got hit by a car or something. I chose the coward's route and did not tell her. I just didn't want to be the one to tell this lady that an eagle ate her cat.
I’ll tell her for ya.
‘It turned out to be an eagle carrying a live cat in its talons.’
a nasty alley cat will rip the belly out of any but the largest hawk...
“Do I tell this woman?” Yes. A coyote ate my neighbor’s cat and I showed my neighbor the half-eaten cat collar. He was appreciative. Closure.
