Fire at sea is NEVER fun. Regardless of where it comes from.
And how long does it take to fully charge an electric vehicle? I’ve read as little as a half hour to several hours. It only takes 2-3 minutes to fill a gas tank. Imagine getting to a charge port and there are a few people ahead of you in line.
Not sure if anyone has made a determination of where it started. Probably some fantail firefly tossing a cig and it blew back into the hold. :-} Is there anyone on board currently? Maybe some firefighting crews? I haven’t checked the brit papers today.
Where I live, electric cars are powered by coal and some natural gas.
Did you hear about the accident on I-95 in South Carolina a couple of weeks back? The Interstate was closed for several hours. It was a cold night. Electric cars ran out of battery power to keep passengers warm and were seen begging truck drivers to let them in the truck to warm up.
You also are aware that a stalled EV must be towed to a charging station, right? A stalled gasoline car only needs delivery of a small can of gasoline to get back on the road.
You gotta admit that fire is REALLY bad optics.
Do you think Jeff Bezos lets his yacht sit becalmed? He likely has another with a giant fan to provide wind, and sails with, run by diesel.
See my post # 17
And keep in mind the electric power is generated miles away from the battery charging location. That needs serious infrastructure and transporting electricity for miles has transmission losses.
Except, when everyone converts by mandate to electric, then there will be no peak production/demand times as the need for electricity will,be constant. Some states can’t even keep,up with electric demands now, how are they gonna handle 24/7 demand for it when everyone is forced to charge their cars every day? California was having constant brown outs already.
Electric cars are fine for some, but if everyone has to eventual,y have them then the demand for electricity is gonna skyrocket and drive the price way up,too. Once people are hooked into electric only, companies can do whatever they want with prices and most
folks won’t have a choice but to pay it
This is where home wind mills, and solar might come in handy though.
And good, luck, getting a loan to replace the battery packs when they crap out. It is so bad a tesla owner burned his tesla in protest over how much it would have cost to replace the batteries in his new vehicle. That was posted awhile, back,on fr.
Thanks for the update.
Zero, they exist outside of the black box engineering calculations.
Yes, there are so many negative points to using EV’s.
But the tree huggers conveniently never talk about them.
So the SS Kamala follows close behind?
Not to mention the “Blood Batteries” with materials mined by exploited youths of color.
What losses occur from generation station to distribution outlet?
“Well, you can convert mass into energy (E=mc2).
That would be nuclear fission or fusion.
The EV fans should realize that nuclear is the only power source that will make them viable and green.
Itβs okay when China uses African slaves.
I say throw this completely back in their faces...
As their Golden Calf Alinsky says, make them live (suffer) by their own rules.
Yes, the dinghy.
