"I simply cannot say I'm pro-police anymore ..."

@ezralevant

My whole life I was Back The Blue.

My whole life I was pro-cop. I was a master of giving them the benefit of the doubt, even for pretty obvious cases of police brutality.

I simply cannot say I'm pro-police anymore.

Not after watching these "just following orders" thugs.

Yes, it's true.

It's been over 15 or 16 years since I last saw him.
I ran into him in a local bar's parking lot -
he was going in, I was coming out.

We just spent a few minutes catching up with each
other's lives.

He had just gone through his second divorce. I heard
through the grapevine that his first wife divorced him.

I remember him talking about how 'easy' it was being a
local cop. "But sometimes you gotta 'Get Involved' " -
he said. - To Protect and Serve. Right.

It used to be the way things were.

Not so much unthinkable as merely forgotten.

Like having to chase a wolf pack out of town. That appears likely to happen again with people mourning the endangered noble wolf and seeking to re-import them into areas where our ancestors wisely eradicated them.

only bright side to all this is their Military is a disgrace, and probably cannot be effectively used against us.
*************************

As long as they have superior firepower and the will to use it against us, they can be quite effective.

“I gave up on the police when I was told by a detective that intentionally writing a bad check was not a crime but a civil matter. The detective should have just told me it wasn’t worth his time. Further incidents included numerous businesses not filling out property reports, purchasing jewelry and rare coins from minors with no penalty. It made me realize the police care more about the chamber of commerce and take revenue than protecting the public.”

It is the same with theft. Unless it is a very very small town, all they are going to do is make a report and tell you to “turn it into your insurance company, hope you got pictures”. They ARE NOT going to make any effort to pursue it any further than that.

After seeing a politized FBI, a corrupt DOJ and how the police in Canada are handling the truckers protest the question is: Are you still pro-police?

Thefbidoj are not the US policemen.

Canadians, both cops and citizens are sheep and most are good comrades, the truckers being the exception to the rule.

I fished in Canada for over a quarter of a century, and had several sales offices there in the 90s.

After 9/11 during one one of my fishing trips, the way the canucks reacted to the terrorists was sickening.

In both Ottawa and Montreal they were actually rooting for the mooselimbs, not everyone, but more than not.

I vowed that was going to be my last visit to Canada, and haven't been back since, neither business nor pleasure.

To answer your question, hell yes, I'm still pro-police and anti-bad guys.

Are you now for the punks and rioters?

Just because you agree with their cause, doesn't make their methods right.

And because cops in US cities were prevented from enforcing our laws in the summer of 2020 doesn't make them the bad guys.

I met a international Lufthansa pilot on vacation up in the Green mountains of Vermont a few years ago.
I asked him “you have been everywhere why pick Vermont for your vacation?”
His reply was “yes i have been everywhere but i find this the most peaceful place i have ever been too..”

he was right..

If anyone wants to live in a really peaceful place then Maine is the state to live in. I’ve lived here 7 years now and there are just not many violent people up here, even when antifa and blm protest things stay peaceful. Of course it helps when they do protest usually more people show up with their AR-15’s, just to keep an eye on things, than there are protesters. LOL.

A similar thing happened in Manchester, NH at the very beginning of the BLM protests. They did a protest and many citizens showed up open carrying and escorted them through the city. At the end of it, a few tried to start some violence and vandalism and were quickly clamped down on by the local police. That was the end of it and the cops stood around later chatting with the armed, open carrying citizens.

There have not been any other incidents from blm since then.

I suspect the purpose of all those riots across the country was to test the waters in all kinds of areas to see what the reaction would be so they’d know where to focus their activities.

NH is also more peaceful and we could use more good, solid, conservative voting deplorables.

Here is the lesson: Blind allegiance to ANY group is childish and naïve. If we truly believe in individual liberty, then we should treat every case individually, not collectively.

AMEN!!!!!!!!

But I thank Ted Cruz for exposing himself that way as it led me to be full supporter of our greatest President ever Donald J. Trump.

Me too, I was a Cruzer until that night/day in Chicago and wrote my first of many checks to Trump the very next day.

Cruz, like so many politicians, talks a good game, Trump, plays a good game.

“Not any more. I think that’s why the Founding Fathers included “well armed militia” in the founding documents (inspired by God). In the end, police are human and therefore corruptible. Ultimate responsibility for safety and justice is with the citizen.

Police USED TO BE rightfully venerated.”

Very well said. We are now at the point we cannot even defend ourselves in a situation of immediate threat. If we do the law enforcement we have now will lock us up and confiscate everything they can. All your guns, computers, cash... Even if is a blatantly obvious undeniable situation of self defense. Then it costs everything you own to be found not guilty. These situations are when police are now worse to have around than better.

An honest officer who respected the Constitution at his own legal discretion would nip it in the bud and deem it as justified self defense and fill out the report and leave without any further hardship or actions against the person who had every right to do what they did. Done, open and shut as a Constitutional right per the officer’s discretion.

You run into all sorts of folks on FreeRepublic; included are folks who "Back the Blue" without a second thought, as well as those who believe (like Antifa) that "A.C.A.B.". Both groups apparently derive their views from the comic books they read (they just read different comic books ;>).

I am pro-police, in terms of recognizing the need for law enforcement in American society. I also believe, for multiple reasons, that smaller, local government is preferable to national, one-size-fits-all government - something to consider, perhaps, as one of our major political parties seeks to defund the police at the local and State levels, while expanding police powers at the federal level...
