My Brave browser blocks all youtube ads. No need to go to all that trouble.
There is roku and a bunch of other hardware platforms that plug into your TV.
We love the Apple Box since it is well designed and organized. BTW, we are mostly android and PC users. You will need an Apple ID account.
And over the air is free. Get yourself a decent antenna for that.
Anyway, you'll save around $120 per month and we don't miss it. We are back to the old business model of getting TV for free if we watch advertisements.
Amazon cube. Loaded it with Pluto and other free apps. Plus Cinema, Kodi, etc. No subscriptions to anything but Amazon Prime, for now. Plus, still have a rooftop antenna, and also get all the broadcasts.
Think what History Channel used to be, but you get to pick and choose what you watch. There are also some church-made documentaries about what the church has done right throughout history (again, low budget stuff, but I'd rather watch that than high budget "documentaries" telling us that the western culture is the ultimate evil).

We started Netflix so that we can watch one of our favorite series, watched it and just canceled it. Ditto for HBOMax although we extended our subscription a month when we found out that the new Matrix movie was going to be released on it. HBO will play new release movies that are currently in the theater. It is a deal.
I haven’t watched TV for probably over 8 years. Haven’t missed it at all. So appreciate Free Republic, etc.
Whichever you choose it’s a ride on the Big Tech train, just choose your poison.

Back when it was TimeWarner you could negotiate deals every year. But then Charter bought them, rebranded as “Spectrum” because the Charter name was so toxic, and they jacked up rates a lot.
I sent them a letter and actually got a phone call from a VP of marketing who gladly admitted they’re not trying to have the most customers, they’re trying to make the most money.
Right now I’m on ATT DSL with Prime, Netflix, and Sling for my pay channels, and a bunch of freebies like Tubi and Pluto. Also get 57 channels OTA via antenna.
Roku
With ROKU I can watch the original Perry Mason 5 times a day.
At our last place, mobile signals were terrible. We built a new house and no longer have a need for landline due to great mobile service. My CPAP machine even uploads everyday.
For those interested in cutting the cord:
What you will need: unlimited internet and a tv that connects to the internet (smart tv).
Anything you are currently watching on cable is available via either ala carte subscriptions or hundreds of free channels. There are hundreds of ways to get the programming you prefer.
There are also several websites to guide you through the process, google ‘cord cutting’.
My current setup (Ohio resident):
Unlimited Spectrum internet $75/month
2 smart tv’s hardwired to router. Hardwire using 25ft. network cable ($25)
Purchased router ($300) instead of paying monthly fee for spectrum router.
Purchased router expansion (allows more hardwire connections) $50.
Purchased Antenna $60, mounted on roof where the cable dish use to be, very simple, removed dish and used the mount already there, 2 bolts and done, used the cable already installed for connection to the cable box to connect directly to each tv.
Purchased Tablo DVR ($250) to record shows from the antenna (football for the hubby). Tablo offers programming guide for lifetime ($175) and skips commercials ($20/year).
Purchased 2 Roku units ($100 each) hardwired to router using 25 ft. network cable ($25 each).
Note: the roku unit eliminates switching inputs on tv to go from channel to channel or to the antenna. It simplifies browsing.
Was paying Dish $110/month, invested @$800 to cut cord 5 yrs. ago, never regretted it. I watch tv all day long and detest commercials, hence the Tablo DVR. What I watch: News, documentaries, movies from the 1940’s, film noir 1940’s, crime tv, reality TV. My hubby watches football and YouTube.
To get the content I want:
Peacock (free or $5/month no commercials) crime tv and reality tv
Tubi (free) docs and old movies, fantastic content regarding WWII and docs.
YouTube (free) news and old movies including film noir
Real America’s Voice (free) news
Newsmax (free) news
Discovery + ($5/ month no commercials) crime tv (ID channel content) and reality tv
Rumble (free) news
Pluto (free) old shows ex. Mission Impossible, cops, etc. the commercials are brutally long though.
Bottom line, whatever content you are interested in is available. The key is having unlimited internet before cutting the cord.

I run Kodi with whatever free streaming apps are available on it and use web based streaming for the rest, also free services. Aside from some alt news, it’s pretty much old stuff but I rarely watched TV or went to the movies once I was past my teens.
Currently watching The New Yankee Workshop.
I have Hulu, Disney +, Amazon Prime, Peacock and Apple TV + and o have no need of the 700 channel package.
As a result of the change I have super fast internet.
Get NordVPN and BitTorrent.
