So paddy is an Irish slur? Okay, no more paddy wagons for me (last time, really). Apologies to all the Irish here. In my weak defense, I picked up the term from Tanner while I was watching the Tireroasters Garage last night. He was recounting his kidnapping by Ottawa police and his distant mall release and he used the term. I didn’t even know enough to know it was offensive. Thank you.

I think the people who are truly offended by “paddy wagon” comprise a small group. Don’t worry about it.

To my knowledge, I am of 100% Irish extraction, and I could care less about the term ‘Paddy.’

In fact, you can look up the ‘Children's song’ which contains the words ‘Knick Knack Paddy whack, give the dog a bone. This is a reference to the Irish Potato Famine of the mid 19th century where thousands died and the British Overlords manipulated the situation. The Irish were nearly destroyed and those who lived were treated like dogs for many years. But do your own digging. ‘Hey, I see what I did there.’

There is no benefit to raging over the Sins of dead generations. A bunch of Englishmen invaded Ireland stole their land, killed untold thousands, compelling many of them to flee to America where again they were treated like vermin.

The English invaded a country and oppressed an entire population and many perished. They sang songs about it. Am I supposed to go kill Englishmen now? Nein Danke.

No need to apologize. Or worry about "offensive".

That [BLEEP] is for the snowflakes to use to try and stifle any thought or speech but theirs.

My family heritage goes back to before the Revolution, every attempt I've seen to trace ancestry has wound up looking like the Los Angeles phone book and there's enough different nationalities that ethnic jokes don't mean squat. Between that and listening to the badmouth about 'Nam for the past 50 years, my sensitivity factor is nearly extinct.

Best proof of that is that I'm not in prison for strangling a few dozen of those witless twits on campus back in the early '70s. (Although I admit I was sorely tempted.)

Frankly after all the touchy-feely PC crap we've endured over the past seems-like-forever time frame, I'd really truly like to just go sit with a few folks and a night's supply of sippin' whiskey (or beer/wine/whatever) and trade the crassest insults and slams we could dream of.

JMHO, it would do all concerned more good than the most costly therapists, shrinks and counselers you could find.

Hey...I was just giving you the business, hence the sarcasm tag.
It’s only racist when POC use the term (s/off)
